3 weeks on the move and one thing I haven’t had to worry about is training.
Because I have an adaptable practice that I can change to suit different situations.
In fact, the only thing I actually NEED is 2x2m of floor space.
Now, this isn’t my ideal scenario. Ideally I’d have access to a pull-up bar so I could continue on my pursuit of a one arm chin-up.
But for now, we are in the Vietnamese countryside and chin-up bars are hard to come by. 🤣
So the OAC will be put on hold, in my experience I won’t have lost too much progress on that.
And this is something I explain to clients.
When working on several goals all at once, sometimes it’s necessary to drop one or two.
Often giving something a break seems to let that skill breathe, and it actually comes back better when you pick it up again.
For me a movement practice is location independent.
So if you’re going on a business trip for 3 days, that’s fine. As long as your hotel room has 2x2m you can still move.
At the moment I’m doing 2-3 sessions per day but they are only 10-20 minutes long.
For me the key with these short sessions is variety, so I make sure to include calisthenics and single leg work for strength, rotations & mobility for the hips and spine, and plenty of ground work to keep the whole body guessing.
The brain thrives on novelty so changing things up like this has a bigger effect than you might think.
If you’re looking at the movements in this video thinking “Yeh right, I could never do that” then I get it.
Because I was there once. I used to watch people in the movement space and think “I could never do that”. The only difference between then and now is that I started. And most of the people I coach started with no experience at all.
If you’re someone who feels stuck in a rut with your routine, perhaps your body is just craving a new challenge.
I’d love to show you how that might look, dm me to chat.
