🎭❤️ 40 years of The Phantom of the Opera!

What a special day to finish this tattoo! Exactly 40 years ago today, The Phantom of the Opera premiered in London. 🥹

This project means so much to me. It was my first time creating something on this scale and in this style.

A huge thank you to my absolutely wonderful client Cheryl Gilbert , who believed in me from the very beginning and gave me the freedom to create something so special. ❤️

And now she’s trusting me even more as we continue turning this piece into a full sleeve! 🥹

I also want to give a massive thank you to Jurgis and Stefan Danu for all their help, advice, encouragement and incredible support as I keep pushing myself towards my goals. Having people like you by my side means more than you know! 💪🏻❤️

I know these are the kinds of tattoos no one really likes working on. It would be better to create a large piece that covers them beautifully — yes, I know. But sometimes you simply have to help a client cover something that has been bothering them in a way that isn’t convenient or easy for us.

Many artists refuse to do cover-ups on tattoos like these.

“It can’t be covered,” “You need laser treatment first,” “The new tattoo has to be much bigger”…

But what if, for various reasons, the client doesn’t want laser treatment or a large tattoo?

That was exactly the situation I faced this time. Instead of expanding the design across half the arm, I worked with what was already there, adapting the new design to make the best possible use of the existing tattoo.

At the client’s request, the tattoo was done in shades of grey, although personally, I would have loved to see it in colour.

And this is the result. 🖤

A cover-up doesn’t always mean laser treatment or a huge, dark design. Sometimes you simply have to find a different solution. 😉
