💜 DISMISSED: THE MENOPAUSE SCANDAL – PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO WATCH! 💜

This powerful ITV News investigation highlights something that simply cannot continue to be ignored – women struggling through perimenopause and menopause, feeling dismissed, unheard and unable to access the support and treatment they need.

The programme raises serious concerns about gaps in menopause education among healthcare professionals and the impact this can have on women's lives.

💜 And this isn't just something women should watch. We'd really encourage men to watch it too!

You may have a wife, partner, daughter, sister, mum, friend or colleague who is experiencing symptoms, perhaps without even realising what is happening to them.

Understanding what women can go through during this stage of life can make an enormous difference. Sometimes it's not about having all the answers, but simply listening, recognising the signs and offering support.

👩‍💼 And let's not forget the workplace!

Women should never feel they have to suffer in silence, hide their symptoms or worry about how menopause might affect their careers.

Employers, managers, colleagues and occupational health professionals all have an important role to play in creating supportive workplaces where women feel understood, valued and comfortable having these conversations.

💜 Education and awareness are key to making a difference.

At GTS-MedOH, we're passionate about improving understanding of menopause and women's health through our specialist training courses, designed for:

👩‍⚕️ Occupational Health Professionals – developing knowledge and confidence to support women experiencing perimenopause and menopause.

👥 Managers and Employers – understanding the impact of menopause at work and how to provide appropriate, practical support.

💜 Employees – raising awareness, breaking down stigma and helping individuals better understand menopause and its impact.

Whether you're looking to develop your own knowledge or create a more menopause-aware workplace, we can help.

👏 Well done to ITV News for shining a light on such an important issue.

📺 Please watch, share and encourage the men in your life to watch too. The more we understand, the better we can support one another.

🧡💜 What an absolutely amazing day! 💜🧡

Yesterday’s sold-out conference, Getting Health Surveillance Right: Working Together to Protect Worker Health, brought us together at the University of Derby Enterprise Centre for a fantastic day of learning, discussion and collaboration.

GTS - MedOH and Greys Specialist Occupational Health Recruitment were delighted to host this event in collaboration with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The enthusiasm, thoughtful questions and willingness to share experiences made it a very special day.

👏 A huge thank you to our speakers for their excellent presentations and generous support:
🎤 Dr Steve Forman, Principal Medical Adviser, HSE – Risk-Based Health Surveillance & How to Get It Right.
🎤 Susan Donnelly, HM Principal Inspector, HSE – Designing Compliant & Effective Statutory Health Surveillance Systems.
🎤 Rebecca Eaton and Jo Barnes, Cadent Gas – The Impact of Working Together, sharing practical experience of collaboration and change.

Thank you to our panel members Diane Romano-Woodward Pips Birchall, Emma Karagkevrekis and Neil Loach for their valuable contributions, honest discussions and expertise throughout the day.

🛠️ The afternoon brought learning to life through three practical breakout workshops, with delegates attending two sessions in smaller groups:

🌬️ LEV & Dust Control Demonstration – Laura Elliot and Matthew Caldwell, Occupational Hygienists, HSE, demonstrated exposure controls and explored how their effectiveness should inform health surveillance.

🔊 Connecting Noise Control and Health Surveillance – Chris Steel, Specialist Inspector (Noise & Vibration), HSE, explored how noise risk assessments and exposure controls help shape proportionate, risk-based health surveillance, and the role OH providers play in supporting employers.

🔍 Where Can Systems Fail? – Susan Donnelly, HM Principal Inspector, HSE, helped delegates examine weaknesses across commissioning, risk identification, governance, delivery and escalation and how to ensure findings trigger action to protect health.

These sessions offered valuable opportunities to ask questions, share experiences and connect the day’s key messages with everyday practice.

Our sincere thanks also go to Sally Parkes and the wider HSE team, alongside all our workshop leaders and facilitators, for helping shape and deliver such an engaging programme.

💡 A key message throughout the day was the importance of connecting workplace risks, effective controls and health surveillance and working together to turn findings into meaningful action.

🤝 A heartfelt thank you to all our sponsors, exhibitors and supporters, including Health Partners, Mike King and Apollo Professional, Noise & Vibration Solutions and EOPH. Your contributions help us make conferences like this more affordable for delegates to attend, while adding valuable opportunities to meet, learn and connect.

And finally, thank you to every delegate who joined us. Your participation and passion for improving workplace health were at the heart of the day. It was wonderful to catch up with familiar faces and make so many new connections.

We left feeling inspired, proud and excited to keep these conversations going.
