A personal update from SG Podiatry ❀️

I wanted to take a moment to explain personally why SG Podiatry is currently closed

Sadly, I have recently experienced a pregnancy loss. It’s been an incredibly difficult and emotional time, and I’ve needed to step away from work for a short while to give myself the time and space I need to recover, both physically and emotionally.

I know that having appointments cancelled or rearranged can be frustrating, and I completely understand that some patients may be disappointed. I am genuinely sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. Please know that I would never cancel appointments unless I had a genuine and important reason for doing so.

If you need treatment while I’m away, I do have trusted colleagues who I can refer you to, so you don’t have to be left uncomfortable or without the care you need.I will do my best to help.

I would also really appreciate a little understanding and kindness at this time. I’m not just SG Podiatry β€” I’m a person too, with feelings and a life outside of work. I care enormously about my patients and take pride in the service I provide, which is why having to cancel appointments has been difficult for me too.

I want to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who has messaged me, checked in, and been so kind and understanding. Your support has genuinely meant more to me than you probably realise. ❀️

I’m hoping to be feeling well enough to return next week, and I will be contacting everyone this weekend to rearrange cancelled appointments.

Thank you for bearing with me, for your patience, and most importantly, for your understanding during what has been a very difficult time.

Foot and ankle pain

How can I treat it whilst waiting for an appointment?

Self care tips

Rest-try to avoid putting weight in the injured ankle/foot. Do not exercise, instead gently try to move it from time to time to stop it getting stiff.

Ice- place an ice pack or frozen vegetables covered in a damp cloth on the area for 20mins every 2 to 3 hours.

Compression - wrap a bandage around the area that is painful.it should be tight enough to support the area, but not so tight it cuts off blood supply.

Elevate- your foot to reduce swelling.

Massage- gently massage the painful area, this will help to reduce swelling and increase blood flow.

Try to avoid hot baths, heat packs, ibuprofen and alcohol in the first few days as this will affect healing.

🦢 Did you know anxiety can affect your feet too?

When we think about anxiety symptoms, we often think about a racing heart, tight chest, dizziness, or feeling breathless.

But anxiety can genuinely be felt from head to toe β€” including your feet.

Foot discomfort is actually a surprisingly common anxiety symptom, and for some people, it can be really unsettling.

Here are some of the ways anxiety can affect your feet:

✨ Tingling, burning or numbness

Your feet may feel tingly, numb, prickly, or like they've β€œfallen asleep.” This can happen because anxiety and hyperventilation can affect blood flow and the way your nervous system responds. It's particularly common around periods of intense anxiety or panic.

πŸ₯Ύ Foot pain when walking

Anxiety can make us overly aware of things we normally do automatically. You might suddenly become conscious of the way you're walking or moving, which can make your movements feel unnatural or tense. That tension can sometimes contribute to discomfort or pain in your feet.

πŸ₯Ά Cold feet

Cold feet can also happen during anxiety. Stress can cause changes in blood flow, while sweating can make your skin feel cooler.

πŸ‘£ Increased sensitivity

Sometimes the sensation itself isn't new β€” you're simply noticing it more. Anxiety can make us hyper-aware of physical sensations that we might normally ignore. Once your brain focuses on a sensation, it can feel much stronger and more uncomfortable.

πŸ’₯ Aches, pains and strange sensations

Anxiety and prolonged stress can cause muscle tension, spasms, aches, pains and all sorts of unusual sensations. Everyone experiences anxiety differently, so symptoms can vary from person to person.

The important thing to remember is that anxiety can produce very real physical symptoms.Just because something is caused by anxiety doesn't mean you're imagining it.

There is good news.

If your foot symptoms are anxiety-related, addressing the underlying anxiety can help reduce them. Anxiety usually doesn't disappear overnight, though. Learning how to manage stress and anxiety over the long term can make a huge difference.

And, of course, if you have new, severe, persistent, or unexplained foot symptoms, it's always worth speaking to a healthcare professional to rule out other causes.

Have you ever experienced tingling, numbness, burning or cold feet when you're anxious?πŸ‘‡
You might be surprised how many other people have experienced the same thing.

A nice treatment especially for autumn and winter at SG Podiatry.

A soothing NEOM hot oil foot massage designed to melt away tension, ease tired feet, nourish dry skin and promote deep relaxation. The warmth of the oil combined with gentle massage and NEOM’s calming aromatherapy fragrances creates a wonderfully restorative treatment, leaving feet feeling soft, refreshed and relaxed.

🦢 Relieves tired, achy feet β€” warmth and massage can ease tension after lots of walking, standing or being on your feet.
πŸ’† Releases muscle tension β€” massage can relax the small muscles and connective tissues in the feet and ankles.
🩸 Encourages circulation β€” gentle massage and warmth can increase blood flow around the feet temporarily.
😌 Promotes deep relaxation β€” the combination of warm oil, soothing touch and NEOM's aromatherapy fragrances can create a calming experience.
πŸŒ™ Can help you wind down before sleep β€” a relaxing foot massage in the evening may help your body transition into a more restful state.
🧴 Softens dry skin β€” the warm oil moisturises the feet and can leave rough or dry areas feeling smoother.
✨ Soothes the feeling of heaviness β€” particularly nice after a long day when your feet feel tired or "heavy."

🌱 Wellness tip: When starting something new, focus on progress, not perfection. Give yourself permission to be a beginner, start small, and celebrate each step forward. Consistency grows more naturally when you enjoy the process.
