Endometriosis is not simply a “period problem.” 🎗️
In clinic, one of the biggest things I’ve come to appreciate is how often endometriosis sits within a much wider picture involving inflammation, immune dysregulation, hormonal signalling, gut health and fertility.
Many women with endometriosis can show signs of systemic inflammation, which is why I don’t just look at pain in isolation. Depending on the presentation, it can be useful to consider the wider clinical picture alongside relevant pathology - inflammatory markers, iron status, nutrient status, thyroid function, metabolic health and other markers that may help explain why the body is struggling.
The immune system also matters. Endometriosis is associated with altered immune activity, and that inflammatory environment can influence pain, fatigue, bowel symptoms and reproductive health.
That doesn’t mean conception is impossible. Far from it. If fertility is a goal, the focus becomes: how do we support the terrain? Reduce unnecessary inflammatory burden, optimise nutrition, support gut and immune health, investigate deficiencies, and work alongside appropriate gynaecological and fertility care.
The aim is not to chase one symptom. It is to understand the pattern and support the body as a whole.
If this sounds familiar, book a consultation and let’s look at the bigger picture together. 👇
