๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ“– A Page from The Little Village Witchery Grimoireโ€ฆ

Sometimes the simplest witchery can be the most meaningful.

No long list of ingredients. No complicated ritual. Just a bay leaf, an intention and a quiet moment to decide what youโ€™d like to invite into your life. ๐Ÿ’œ

Todayโ€™s Grimoire page is a simple Bay Leaf Wish Spell.

Take a dried bay leaf and think about one clear intention.

Perhaps itโ€™sโ€ฆ

โœจ Confidence
๐ŸŒฟ Abundance
๐Ÿ’œ Self-love
๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ New beginnings
๐ŸŒ™ Peace
๐Ÿ—๏ธ Opportunity
โœจ Creativity
๐ŸŒฟ Healing

Or something completely personal to you.

Write a single word or short phrase onto your leaf. Hold it between your hands, take a few slow breaths and really think about what that intention means to you.

Then say:

โ€œUpon this leaf my wish I place,
with open heart and willing grace.
I send it out, then set it free;
what serves my path, may come to me.โ€

You can safely burn your leaf in a heatproof dish, or if you prefer not to use flame, simply tear or crumble it and return it to the earth. ๐ŸŒฟ

And then?

Release it.

Try not to spend the next week searching for signs or wondering whether your spell has โ€œworked.โ€

Instead, ask yourself something much more important:

What can I do to move towards this intention too?

Because a little ritual can mark the moment we decide what we wantโ€ฆ

But sometimes the real magic begins with the step we take afterwards. โœจ

๐Ÿ“– Save this page to return to later.

If you were holding a bay leaf right now, what ONE word would you write on it?

๐Ÿ„โœจ Folklore Friday โ€“ Would You Dare Step Inside a Fairy Ring? ๐Ÿงšโ€โ™€๏ธ

Deep in the woods, mysterious circles of mushrooms have inspired stories of magic and mischief for centuries.

In British and Irish folklore, fairy rings were believed to be gathering places where fairies danced beneath the moonlight. ๐ŸŒ™

But there was a warningโ€ฆ

Step inside and you might find yourself caught in their dance, whisked away to another realm, or discover that hours in the fairy world had become years in ours!

Of course, we now understand that fairy rings form naturally as fungi spread beneath the soil.

But isn't it lovely that something so ordinary can inspire such extraordinary stories? ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’œ

โœจ Would you dare step inside a fairy ring, or would you leave the fairies undisturbed?

๐ŸŒ™ Folklore Friday | How Did Witch Covens Come to Be? ๐Ÿง™โ€โ™€๏ธโœจ

When you hear the word 'coven', what comes to mind?

Thirteen witches gathered around a fire? Secret ceremonies beneath a full moon? Perhaps a little Hollywood magic? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Happy Folklore Friday, lovely souls! ๐Ÿฉท

But the real history of witch covens is far more complicated than we might imagine.

๐ŸŒฟ Where did the word come from?

The word 'coven' has roots in older words associated with gatherings and assemblies. Over time, it became particularly associated with groups of witches.

๐Ÿ”ฅ The European Witch Trials

During the witch trials, people accused of witchcraft were sometimes alleged to have attended secret gatherings known as witches' sabbaths.

However, many accounts emerged through accusations, interrogation and torture.

These stories aren't reliable evidence that organised covens existed as described.

๐Ÿ“– Why thirteen witches?

In the early twentieth century, Margaret Murray popularised the theory that witches belonged to covens of thirteen, supposedly preserving an ancient pre-Christian religion.

Although influential, her central historical claims have since been rejected by historians.

๐ŸŒ™ The Modern Coven

During the twentieth century, modern Wicca helped establish covens as organised groups where practitioners could learn, perform rituals and celebrate seasonal festivals together.

Today, covens vary enormously.

Some follow established traditions, whilst others are informal gatherings of like-minded practitioners.

And of course, many witches practise entirely alone.

You don't need to belong to a coven to be a witch.

What fascinates me is how the meaning of a coven has changed over time.

From frightening accusations during the witch trials to communities built around shared spiritual interests and practices.

It's a wonderful reminder that folklore, history and modern witchcraft aren't always the same thing. โœจ

๐Ÿ’ฌ Would you enjoy practising with a coven, or are you more of a solitary witch?

Autumn reminds us that letting go can be beautifully natural. Take a lesson from the Trees and let go of what doesn't make you happy, or prevents you from thriving.
Take only what serves you into your next season.
Blessed be...

๐Ÿชžโœจ Want a simple way to protect the energy of your home?

Today weโ€™re turning another page of The Little Village Witchery Grimoire for a simple Mirror Protection Spell.
Mirrors have long carried symbolism in folklore and magical practice, and in this working we're using one as a symbolic boundary โ€” reflecting unwanted energy away rather than allowing it to settle in your space.
Youโ€™ll need:
๐Ÿชž A small mirror
๐Ÿง‚ Salt โ€” for cleansing & protection
๐ŸŒฟ Rosemary โ€” for protection & purification
๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ A white candle โ€” for clarity & positive energy
๐Ÿ–ค Black thread or ribbon โ€” optional
Cleanse your mirror, then place it facing outward near a doorway, window or another boundary of your home.
Add your salt and rosemary nearby, light your candle safely and focus on your intention:
โœจ Mirror bright, protective light,
guard this home by day and night.
What brings harm shall not remain;
peace and warmth within shall reign.
This isn't about sending negativity or harm back to anyone.
Itโ€™s simply a little piece of protective witchery intended to say:
This is my space.
Peace lives here.
What doesn't belong here may pass on by. ๐Ÿ’œ
๐Ÿ“– Save this page to your Witchery library.
Where would you place your protection mirror โ€” doorway, window or altar? ๐Ÿชž๐ŸŒฟ

๐Ÿชž๐ŸŒ™ THRESHOLD THURSDAY โ€“ WHY DID PEOPLE COVER MIRRORS AFTER A DEATH?

Have you ever heard of this mysterious old mourning tradition?

For generations, some families covered mirrors with dark cloth when someone passed away.

According to folklore, mirrors could trap a departing spirit or act as doorways between the living and the dead. ๐Ÿ‘ป

But there was another meaning behind the custom.

Covering mirrors was also an act of mourning and respect, encouraging families to turn away from appearances and focus on remembering their loved ones. ๐Ÿ’œ

Some families still observe this tradition today.

โœจ Was it protection for the spirit, or comfort for those left behind?

Have you ever come across this custom in your own family?

๐Ÿ‚ Threshold Thursday | Embracing Change, Letting Go & Stepping Forward ๐ŸŒ™โœจ

Have you ever stayed in a situation you'd outgrown, simply because the thought of starting again felt frightening?

Happy Threshold Thursday, lovely souls! ๐Ÿฉท

Life has a funny way of bringing us to crossroads when we least expect them.

Perhaps it's a career that no longer fulfils us, a relationship that's changed, or a dream we've spent years putting on the back burner.

Sometimes we know deep down that something needs to change.

Yet we hesitate.

And there's an interesting psychological reason for this.

Our brains tend to favour familiarity and predictability.

Even when something isn't making us particularly happy, knowing what to expect can feel safer than stepping into the unknown.

But here's something worth rememberingโ€ฆ

Not every ending represents failure.

Sometimes we've simply grown beyond the life we once imagined for ourselves.

๐Ÿ‚ Trees release their leaves each autumn.

๐ŸŒ™ The moon moves through its phases.

๐ŸŒฟ Nature changes constantly, without needing permission.

And perhaps we could learn something from that.

We're allowed to change our minds.

We're allowed to discover new passions.

We're allowed to leave behind expectations that no longer fit the people we've become.

And we're certainly allowed to begin again, whatever our age.

Starting over doesn't mean starting from nothing.

We carry every experience, lesson and little piece of wisdom we've gathered along the way.

Sometimes change doesn't require an enormous leap of faith.

Sometimes it begins with one small decision.

One conversation.

One opportunity.

One step through a doorway we've been standing in front of for far too long.

โœจ Change doesn't erase who you've been. It creates space for who you're becoming.

So this Threshold Thursday, perhaps ask yourselfโ€ฆ

Am I staying because this is where I want to be, or simply because it's where I feel comfortable?

๐Ÿ’ฌ Do you embrace change, or are you someone who prefers the comfort of the familiar?

The wise, cunning women were more than just gathers of knowledge. They worked with both the physical and energetic realms..
Folklore allows us to remember the old ways..

Consistency is hard, but it brings the greatest rewards.
Everything you've ever wanted is on the other side of fear, of pain, of hard work.
So, stay strong Witches, remember who you are, your lineage, that you are magic and let that carry you through... you got this.
Blessed be...
