Natural menopause support with Jo Hayns, The Menopause Translator™.
40 yrs in wellness | Free Clarity Call 👇 https://serenitymojo.co.uk/page/links At Serenity Mojo, I help peri-to-post-menopausal women make sense of their symptoms — from bloating, anxiety, and fatigue to restless sleep and hormone chaos. My passion for wellness began early in life, after witnessing the impact of long-term illness in my own family. It sparked a lifelong fascination with how the body, mind, and emotions are deeply connected — and how supporting that connection can transform health and resilience. Now as a Functional Wellness Practitioner, I combine the latest research in nutrition, hormone health, stress resilience, and digestion with over 40 years of experience in holistic wellness. Using kinesiology, nutrition, and functional wellness strategies, I guide women through my Menopause Reset Method — a practical, root-cause approach to restoring balance, calm, and renewed energy, naturally. My approach helps women understand what their body is really trying to say — so they can move from confusion and frustration to clarity and confidence through menopause and beyond.

October to Menopause Awareness Month...

Menopause is not just hot flushes.

For many women, the symptoms that affect life most are the ones people talk about least.

🌻 The brain fog that makes you doubt yourself at work.
🌻 The sleep that has quietly disappeared.
🌻 The anxiety that feels unlike you.
🌻 The aching joints, the digestive changes, the loss of energy and resilience.
🌻 Or simply the feeling that your body is no longer behaving as it used to.

This Menopause Awareness Month, I would love us to make more room for those conversations too.

Because you do not have to be falling apart for your symptoms to deserve understanding and support. 🌻

My results are within range… so why do I still feel so rubbish?

Have you ever been told that your test results are normal, yet you still feel exhausted, uncomfortable, anxious or simply not like yourself?

Perhaps your sleep is disrupted, your digestion is unpredictable, your joints ache and your energy is nowhere near what it used to be.

You’re getting through the day, doing your best to look after yourself and keep everything going — but it all feels so much harder than it should.

Being told that nothing serious has shown up is not the same as feeling well. And you don’t have to wait until things get worse before seeking support.

In my latest article, I explore why looking at the bigger picture matters, how I approach working with women who feel this way, and why the answer isn't always another supplement, another diet or another impossible list of things to do.

Because sometimes, the first step is simply having the time and space to make sense of your story.

If this sounds familiar, I’ve written this for you.

And if you recognise yourself in these words, please know that you’re not alone.

Today is World Mental Health Day...

You do not need to be in crisis to deserve support.

When you are exhausted, not sleeping properly, anxious, struggling to concentrate or simply no longer feeling like yourself, everyday life can start to feel much harder.

Women are often very good at carrying on. They may tell themselves they are not 'bad enough' to ask for help, or that they should simply cope.

But feeling unlike yourself is still a reason to pause and take notice.

Hormonal change, poor sleep, stress, physical symptoms and the demands of everyday life can all affect how we feel emotionally and mentally. It does not mean you have failed at coping, and it does not mean you have to manage it alone.

New, severe or worsening symptoms should always be discussed with your GP. Alongside medical support, there can also be value in stepping back and asking: 'What has changed — and what might my body be trying to cope with?'

You do not need to be in crisis to deserve support.

Being told your tests are within range can be reassuring.

But it does not automatically explain why you are waking at 3am, feeling puffy and uncomfortable, running out of energy by mid-afternoon or finding ordinary life takes far more out of you than it used to.

And when you already feel like that, the last thing you need is a complete lifestyle makeover.

You do not have to start a new diet, join a gym, buy a cupboard full of supplements and become someone who gets up at 5am to meditate before the family wakes.

🌻 Sometimes we begin much smaller.
🌻 Eating breakfast before the second coffee.
🌻 Sitting down for one meal rather than eating it while answering emails.
🌻 Getting outside for ten minutes of daylight.
🌻 Leaving your phone downstairs for half an hour before bed.
🌻 Noticing which 'healthy' lunch leaves you full of beans—and which one has you raiding the biscuit tin at 3pm.

These things may sound almost too simple, but they give your body little moments of steadiness in a day that may otherwise be asking quite a lot of it.

The point is not to do everything perfectly. It is to become curious.

What small change could make life feel a little easier for my body right now? Then notice what happens.

🌻 A little more energy.
🌻 A calmer tummy.
🌻 A better night’s sleep.
🌻 A bit more patience with the people you love.

That is useful information, and it is often where we begin. 🌻

Wired but tired? There’s a reason you might feel both.

One of the things I hear from women in perimenopause and menopause is 'I’m exhausted… but I just can’t switch off.'

Here’s an interesting way to think about it…

I often use the idea of a 'Stress Bowl'.

Every pressure on your body goes into the same bowl — emotional stress, poor sleep, blood sugar swings, digestion issues, hormonal changes and all the other demands life throws at you.

And when that bowl gets too full, your body can start to struggle with regulation.

You might feel drained during the day but wired at night, mentally alert but physically exhausted, or simply unable to properly relax.

It doesn’t necessarily mean something is wrong with you.

Sometimes your body is simply telling you it has been carrying too much for too long.

I wrote more about the 'wired but tired' feeling, why it can become more noticeable during perimenopause, and what can help create a little more space in that Stress Bowl.

I often hear women say this after a medical appointment.

They have gone because they are exhausted, waking at 3am, gaining weight, bloated, anxious or simply feeling unlike themselves.

And they come away with the same advice:

🌻 Eat well
🌻 Get some exercise
🌻 Try to reduce stress

None of it is bad advice.

But when you are already holding everything together, it can feel like being handed another job.

Because what does 'reduce stress' actually mean when you cannot remove your family, your work, your finances, your to-do list or the fact that your hormones have changed?

And stress is not only the obvious things.

It can be the body that has not slept properly for months. The breakfast that leaves you running on fumes by 11am. The digestion that has been struggling quietly in the background. The shoulders you have held up around your ears for so long that you barely notice them any more. The woman who says, 'I’m fine,' while her body is doing its very best to keep up.

This is why I do not see stress as a personal failing or something you can fix by being better at yoga.

I want to understand what is putting pressure on your body, and then ask a more useful question: What could give you a little more breathing room right now?

Sometimes it is not about doing more. Sometimes it is about helping the body carry less. 🌻

What if the symptom bothering you most isn’t actually the best place to start?

One of the things I find most interesting about systematic kinesiology is that the symptom that is loudest is not always the place to begin.

You might come to me with poor sleep, bloating, fatigue or brain fog and understandably want to tackle that particular symptom.

But the wider picture matters.

Stress, digestion, medication, food, physical tension, emotional load and lifestyle can all be part of the story — and two women with exactly the same symptoms may need completely different support.

That’s why I don’t want to start with assumptions.

My knowledge gives me a hypothesis. Kinesiology stops it becoming an assumption.

I use gentle Muscle Response Testing alongside your story, health history, lifestyle and other relevant information to help explore what your body may need the most support with now.

I’ve written more about what actually happens during a systematic kinesiology session, how I use the BEES approach, and why I don’t follow a one-size-fits-all protocol.

Autumn brings more change than we sometimes realise.

Cooler mornings. Less daylight. Different routines. Children heading back to school. And suddenly, life feels busy again.

For some women, this is when things like energy, sleep, digestion or everyday aches can start to feel a little louder.

Not necessarily because something is wrong — but because the body is constantly adapting to its environment, routines and demands.

So rather than worrying about those changes, perhaps this season is an invitation to get curious.

🌻 What is your body asking for?
🌻 More rest? Better nourishment? A little more movement?
🌻 More space to slow down and reset?

Your body is always communicating with you.

As the season changes, it may simply be time to listen a little more closely. 🤎

I often hear women begin telling me about food with something like:

“Actually, I was really good this week…”

And then, almost as a confession:

“…apart from the w**e at the weekend.”
“…and the biscuits.”
“…and the takeaway.”

I understand why. We are surrounded by so much advice that food, exercise and sleep can start to feel like a long list of things we either pass or fail.

🌻 Green smoothie? Gold star.
🌻 Toast because you were rushing out of the door? Must try harder.

But your body is not marking your homework. It is not punishing you because you had a glass of w**e, and it is not necessarily rewarding you simply because you ate a salad. It is responding to context.

🌻 How much you slept.
🌻 Whether you had eaten properly all day.
🌻 How rushed you were when you ate.
🌻 What else was on your plate.
🌻 How stressed you felt.
🌻 Where you are in your cycle or menopause journey.

Those details are not excuses. They are clues. So rather than asking, 'have I been good?', perhaps we could ask 'what was going on for my body that day?'

That question gives us something much more useful than guilt. It gives us information.

And information is where better choices usually begin. 🌻

What if the symptom you notice isn’t where you need to start?

When you’re tired, bloated, not sleeping well, feeling anxious, gaining weight or simply feeling unlike yourself, it’s very tempting to look for a quick answer.

But the body rarely works in isolation.

Poor sleep might be connected with stress, digestion, medication, physical tension, nutrition, life circumstances — or a combination of things.

That’s why I don’t start a kinesiology session with assumptions.

I use your story, health history, lifestyle and relevant information alongside gentle Muscle Response Testing to explore a more useful question:

What does your body need the most support with right now?

In my latest artcle, I explain exactly what happens during a systematic kinesiology session, how I use the BEES — Biochemical, Emotional, Electrical and Structural — and why I believe personalised support is so important.

Because the symptom that’s shouting the loudest isn’t always the best place to begin. 🐝

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed by conflicting health advice and wondering where to start, you may find this helpful.
