So…did my own insulin resistance screening this week because I wanted a clearer picture of what’s actually going on in my body from an angle I’d never looked at before… and here we have it!

On paper, my glucose looks good at 5.3, but my triglycerides are 2.2 and my insulin resistance result came back at 4.92, both above the optimal range.

And for me, that feels really relevant right now.

Since having Sonny, breastfeeding, being more tired, feeling more inflamed and finding weight harder to shift than it used to be, I’ve been trying to understand what my body might actually need rather than just thinking I need to “try harder”.

I’m really hoping I’ve found part of the root of why I’ve been experiencing what I am at the moment. Now I can actually make the recommended changes with some direction behind them, and hopefully start to see the results I’ve been wanting.

The hard part is doing it while I’m still breastfeeding and having broken sleep!

I’ll be sharing more of this journey too because I know I won’t be the only woman thinking, “I’m doing all the things… so why isn’t my body responding like it used to?”

Insulin resistance screening is available at IBU BUMI throughout October for £50. 🌿

OCTOBER OFFER 🍂 🎃

For the whole of October I’m offering my Full Holistic Health Screening + Insulin Resistance Testing for £150
Usually £200 combined.

This is for anyone who wants to get a clearer picture of what’s actually going on inside their body, rather than guessing.

The full screening looks at a wide range of markers across your overall health and wellbeing, including things like blood glucose, cholesterol, haemoglobin, uric acid, hydration, pH, stress and more.

I’ll also include my newer Insulin Resistance Testing, giving us another piece of the metabolic picture and helping us look more closely at how your body is managing blood sugar and insulin.

I’m really interested in this side of health at the moment, especially how our metabolism can link into things like energy, cravings, weight, recovery and how we generally feel day to day.

£150 throughout October
Usually £200 for both.

Appointments available throughout October 🌿🌞

I’m so ready for autumn 🍂

Cold, crisp air, darker evenings, cosy layers, warm food, slowing down a little and getting back into a good routine.

There’s something about this time of year that always makes me want to reset, look after myself properly and get a bit more grounded again.

And I’ve got some lovely things coming for IBU BUMI this October too… including a few offers 👀

Stay tuned 🤎

A little check-in for myself 🌿

Right now I’m keeping it simple — movement, good food, rest, metabolism and less pressure.

Starting with movement because, honestly, being consistent when you’ve got a million and one things to do is hard 😅

So I’ve bought a walking pad and I’m aiming for 12k steps a day.

Nothing extreme, just small things I can actually stick to. 🤎

I’ve been doing a lot more learning around insulin resistance recently, and the more I understand it, the more I realise how often it can be sitting quietly in the background.

We hear so much about blood sugar, but insulin is a huge part of the picture too.

Things like energy crashes, cravings, feeling hungry not long after eating, difficulty shifting weight and tiredness after meals can all be little clues that something deeper may be going on.

And right now, this is something I can massively relate to myself.

I’m really interested in not only seeing how this knowledge can help the people I work with, but also in understanding what’s going on in my own body and following my own journey with it too.

I’ll be sharing more over the next few weeks as I bring this into the testing and health screening side of IBU BUMI and probably sharing some of my own experience along the way too!! 🌿

We hear so much about blood sugar and glucose spikes… but insulin? Probably not something most of us have ever really thought about.

Insulin plays a huge part in how our body manages glucose and energy. And one of the interesting things I’ve learnt through my recent training is that the body can start becoming less responsive to insulin before we necessarily see obvious changes in blood glucose.

That’s why I’ve been training further in insulin resistance and metabolic health, and I’m now bringing insulin resistance testing into the health screening I already offer at IBU BUMI. 🌿

For me, it’s another piece of information that can help us build a better picture of what’s going on in the body, rather than looking at one marker on its own.

I’ll be sharing more over the next few weeks about what insulin resistance is, what can influence it, the signs we can look out for and what the testing actually involves.

First question though… had you ever really thought about your insulin?

I thought I’d share a bit more about what I actually do at IBU BUMI, as I’m always talking about testing but haven’t really explained much about it on here 🌿

Here I’m taking a finger-prick sample. I use these to check haemoglobin, cholesterol, glucose and uric acid.

Haemoglobin is involved in carrying oxygen around the body, so it’s relevant when we’re talking about tiredness and energy. Glucose gives us a blood sugar reading, cholesterol is one part of looking at heart health, and uric acid is something the body normally clears through the kidneys but can cause problems if it builds up.

I’m interested in seeing those readings alongside how you actually feel. What’s your sleep like? How’s your digestion? What are you eating, and what have you noticed changing?

We spend time going through all of that together. I love this part of what I do, being able to sit with someone, listen and help them work out where to start with their food and everyday habits.

There’s more to a full screening than what you can see here, so I’ll share a bit at a time. If you’d like to know more in the meantime, just message me 🤍

September feels a little bit like coming back into my power 🌿

I wouldn’t say I’ve lost myself. Becoming Sonny’s mum is everything I ever wanted and I absolutely love being his mum.

But I have definitely stopped prioritising parts of myself.

I’ve always carried on with the things I love, cooking proper food, my herbs, supplements, natural health and probably far too much researching into all the weird and wonderful things 😂 That’s just me.

But physically, the last year has been different.

I think at some point the grief I’d been carrying about my Mum passing away the same day I found out I was pregnant, really came out in my body. For a few months I genuinely struggled to move properly, and looking after Sonny was physically hard.

When your body doesn’t feel like your own, you realise very quickly how much you take being able to move, stretch, walk and feel strong for granted.

Finally, I feel like I’m coming out the other side of that.

I started the gym, in France, I got back on my mat. I started moving more, stretching, walking, giving my body some attention again which felt amazing.

It’s about time I remembered my power, my skills and my passions — and actually start prioritising them.

I’m a mum. I’m a yoga teacher. I love herbs, food, natural health, healing, movement and learning about the body. I have years of knowledge and things I genuinely believe in… and I want to start giving myself the same care and attention I’m always so willing to give everyone else.

I finally feel better and I don’t want to take that for granted.

I know what makes me feel good. I know what my body needs. I’ve got years of knowledge that I’m very good at giving to everyone else 😂

So maybe it’s about bloody time I started giving some of it back to myself.

Here’s to feeling strong again, remembering what we’re capable of and making ourselves a priority too 🤎🌿
