Why should you eat seasonally?

🥦 Seasonal produce is often harvested closer to peak ripeness, helping it retain its flavour and nutrients.

💚 When fruits and vegetables are in season, they’re often more readily available and can be more affordable.

🌍 Choosing locally grown, seasonal produce can help reduce food miles and support local growers, depending on where and how your food is produced.

🍽️ Eating with the seasons encourages you to try different fruits and vegetables throughout the year, helping you enjoy a wider range of nutrients.

Autumn is a great time to try out eating seasonally - why not start with a different squash or pumpkin that you've not tried before?

I have completed another year with the Association for Nutrition 🎉

Here is what the Association for Nutrition has to say about the work I do, as a Registered Association Nutritionist:

"We hold the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists (UKVRN), a register of competent, qualified nutrition professionals who meet our rigorously applied standards for scientifically sound evidence-based nutrition and its use in practice. The UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists is the only register of qualified nutritionists recognised by the UK Health Security Agency (previously Public Health England) and NHS."

Are sausages good for your gut?

Finnebrogue have added chicory inulin to their ‘good little chipolatas’, which allows the company to make the claim that ‘chicory inulin promotes normal gut function by more frequent bowel movements.’

However, the benefits occur at 12g per day, whilst 3 sausages contain 5.1g of chicory inulin, so to reap the rewards of the chicory inulin, you would still need to consume an additional 6.9g.

Research has shown that regular processed meat consumption, which includes sausages, can increase your risk of high blood pressure, certain cancers, and type 2 diabetes.

If you are someone that loves eating sausages, think about what you can eat them with, for example colourful vegetables and wholegrains, to create a balanced plate.

If you’re someone that doesn’t particularly like processed meat, stick to other protein sources that naturally contain less saturated fat, such as beans, lentils and tofu.

What I do as a nutritionist 🍽

As a nutritionist, I do more than count your calories and tell you that eating more vegetables is the key to improving your health.

Food is rarely the solution alone, instead I can work with you to...

🌱 Find realistic ways to eat well whilst juggling shift work
🌱 Manage emotional eating during periods of stress
🌱 Build your confidence after years of confusing nutrition advice
🌱 Create routines that actually fit around work and family life
🌱 Set goals that are achievable, not overwhelming

Nutrition isn't just about food. It's about behaviour, habits, routines, environment, mindset and health.

Anyone can hand you a meal plan.

Helping you make changes that still work six months from now? That's where I can make the difference.
