Turtle Medical An innovative manufacturer of defibrillator cabinets, bleed control cabinets and bleed control kits and supplier of medical equipment.

Turtle Medical was founded in 2011. It is a family-run business that designs, engineers and manufactures indoor and outdoor defibrillator cabinets to bespoke specifications. In 2020 it created the UK’s first bleed control cabinet and in 2023 the first solar and wind powered defib and bleed control cabinet. The company also supplies approved medical equipment and has numerous partnerships with charities, such as the Daniel Baird Foundation. Customers include UK-wide Police, Fire and Ambulance Services and local and parish councils, as well as railway stations and stadiums like St Pancras and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Molineux Stadium. Every element of a Turtle cabinet is manufactured in the UK and cabinets can be built to standard or bespoke specifications, meeting any branding or installation requirements and specifications linked to Listed Building status. Our defibrillator and bleed control cabinets are expertly engineered to keep the medical equipment secure and heat-regulated where required. All our cabinets are IP66 rated (fully waterproof and dustproof) and have the highest impact rating available (IK10); furthermore, we are the only company to hold this certification. Our cabinets can have remote monitoring systems added to them to allow custodians to check on the status of the cabinet at any time, giving them peace of mind about the status of the door, hook switch or temperature inside the cabinet. Registered company name: Turtle Engineering Ltd

The victim of this recent incident suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. We hope he makes a full recovery. We believe bleed control kits should be placed in the cabs of all buses, because we know other victims haven’t made it to hospital. 🙏

Choking or a diabetic hypo episode might not be first to mind when you think medical emergency. 🚑 Nevertheless, having these two small kits to hand in your workplace or community venue brings immeasurable peace of mind to many.

🍽️ We believe these LifeVac choking devices, which are suction devices, should be kept in all places where people eat, from cafes and restaurants to school and work canteens – do you agree?

We currently have these on offer at £52.

🐢 Renting defibrillators isn’t new, but our 🆕 service includes equipment that has never been available to hire before, like our solar and wind powered defib cabinet and The Daniel Baird Foundation bleed control kits.

💚🩸🟨 Being prepared to save a life shouldn’t be a question on a budget line so our defibrillator, bleed kit and cabinet rental service is addressing a gap in short-term access to emergency medical equipment.

People managing events, construction projects or short-term working locations – especially sites that take time to navigate – can correctly safeguard everyone by having emergency equipment in different areas of a site.

Because let’s be clear, a cardiac arrest or catastrophic bleeding injury can take a life in minutes.

“When there hasn’t been a solution, Turtle has designed and engineered one and our new hire service is built on that same principle. Buying isn’t always a viable option when the equipment is needed for just a few days or weeks, so we believe this addresses a gap in public and workforce safety," says our founder and MD, Mike Dowson.

🙏 Thank you to all our customers who have registered their bleed control kits on Bleed Map 📍🩸 Amazing numbers since the launch in January.

If you’re buying multiple The Daniel Baird Foundation bleed kits and don’t have time to complete the information, we’re happy to help in return for a small donation to the registered charity behind Bleed Map, The National Bleed Kit Network.

🚨 Venues across the UK need to be ready for Martyn's Law when it comes into force in spring 2027.

The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 received Royal Assent in April 2025, and we have been helping venues work towards compliance since then. In the event of an attack, a venue needs to be able to treat multiple casualties at once. Our Enhanced Public Access Trauma (PAcT) kits are built for exactly that.

We've been supplying them primarily in three set ups:
🩸 A single kit in a transparent, security-tagged cabinet, installed in a public area.
🛞 Multiple kits, including a defibrillator, in a large, wheeled cabinet, stored back of house.
🟩 Two kits in a green metal, security-tagged PAcT cabinet, installed in a public area.

The green cabinet is new. A customer asked us for it and we were glad to match the colour they wanted.

If you're still working out what your venue needs, we are happy to talk it through.

Cerebral Palsy Midlands has installed a publicly accessible defibrillator and bleed control kit on Victoria Road, supplied and installed by Turtle Medical 💚

Money raised through their fundraising events supports the adults they look after, and this project came out of the same fundraising. See the full story, link in the comments.

"Sometimes that money enables us to provide activities and opportunities for our citizens. Sometimes it helps us improve our centre and accessibility. And sometimes, as with this project, it allows us to invest in something that can benefit our whole community," says Sarah Lilly, Deputy Manager at Cerebral Palsy Midlands.

"We'd like to thank all of our supporters and Turtle Medical who helped us choose the right defibrillator for our community. There are a variety to choose from but with their advice, the selection process, adding a bleed kit and the installation was very straightforward."

Mike Dowson, founder and Managing Director of Turtle Medical, added: "We love this. The community has supported Cerebral Palsy Midlands and now Cerebral Palsy Midlands is able to give back and say thank you, making local people safer."

The cabinet holds a LIFEPAK CR2 defibrillator and a The Daniel Baird Foundation bleed control kit. Both are registered on British Heart Foundation's The Circuit and Bleed Map, so emergency services can direct people to them.

In an emergency, always call 999 and follow the instructions from the call handler.

⚙️⚡We’re proud to support National Manufacturing Day from Make UK 👩‍🔧 As we’re only small, we were unable to arrange an open day yesterday but we’re always open to visitors with appointments, especially young people who are considering a career or starting a business in the area of manufacturing and engineering – do please contact us about work experience placements.

Our founder Mike had a vision and a lot of determination, and now Turtle is the only UK manufacturer of a solar and wind powered defibrillator cabinet as well as a variety of other medical emergency products.

No idea is stupid. All dreams are achievable. Let’s make more here in the UK.

💨☀️ The residents of Tutbury are safeguarded against cardiac arrest and severe bleeding injuries once more, thanks to a grant awarded to Tutbury Parish Council by the Duchy of Lancaster’s Benevolent Fund.

The previous community defibrillator was installed at the village shop, but that unfortunately closed and residents were left vulnerable. We were delighted to get the call to get our design and engineering caps on again and we’ve integrated our solar and wind technology with a brick bus shelter in the Staffordshire village 🚌

🚑 The lifesaving medical equipment will be registered with British Heart Foundation's The Circuit and The National Bleed Kit Network's Bleed Map - allowing emergency services to direct callers to the cabinet with the access code.

Thank you for your support and we hope the equipment need never be deployed.
