Confession - I missed World Menopause Day 🤧

Sunday was the big day… and I spent it on the sofa with a cold, a mountain of tissues and absolutely no energy to post anything!

But you know what? Menopause didn't take Sunday off. And it doesn't take any day off for the millions of women living with symptoms right now.

That's why awareness can't just be one day, or one month. It needs to happen every day. At work, at home, in everyday conversations 💬

So here's my slightly late, cold-fuelled reminder:
💛 Ask how someone's really doing
💛 Make it OK to talk about
💛 Don't save the conversation for October

If you'd like menopause awareness training for your workplace or team, send me a message. Let's make awareness last longer than a day👇🏻

I've spent most of my adult life waiting for the worst to happen 😬

Anxiety. Panic attacks. Travel anxiety. Health anxiety. That constant low hum of dread.

It was always worse at certain times of the month. Worse in pregnancy. Worse whenever my hormones were all over the place.

Did anyone link it to my hormones? Nope. My GP gave me beta blockers 🙄

Then the worst actually did happen. A cancer diagnosis, followed by medical menopause.

And here's the strange bit...I'm the calmest I've ever been 💚

It hasn't all been calm. Medical menopause brought debilitating UTIs and brain fog, and I ended up walking away from my career.

Last week I read Sally Williams story on the BBC and felt it in my chest.

Three years of her life falling apart. Almost 11 months in hospital. Her job gone. Separated from her teenage son. Doctors thought it was depression. Sally worked out for herself that it was perimenopause.

💚 You're not going mad
💚 It's not "just stress"
💚 It's worth asking the hormone question

That's why I became a Training Partner with Hormones on the blink. I help workplaces spot the signs and have the conversations nobody had with me.

Does any of this sound familiar? Tell me in the comments, or send me a message if you'd rather keep it private 👇🏻

I've got a new string to my bow 💜

I've joined Agile Group as an Associate Trainer.

I'll be supporting learners with leadership development, and (you know me) bringing menopause and hormone health awareness along for the ride. Better leaders and better conversations about women's health at work belong in the same room.

Enlighten & Lead is still very much open for business. If your organisation wants stronger leaders, or a workplace where women's health isn't whispered about, send me a message and let's talk 📩

October is Menopause Awareness Month. Has your workplace planned anything yet? 🤔

If not, you're not alone, and it's not too late.

Here's why it's worth doing properly:

🔴 1 in 10 women who worked during the menopause have left a job because of their symptoms

🔴 67% say their symptoms have had a mostly negative effect on them at work

🔴 8 in 10 say their employer hasn't shared information, trained staff or put a policy in place

That's brilliant, experienced people struggling in silence when a bit of understanding would make all the difference.

As a Training Partner with Hormones on the Blink®, I run practical, down-to-earth menopause and hormone health awareness sessions for workplaces. No jargon, no awkwardness, just honest conversations that help.

📅 I still have availability this October, and World Menopause Day is 18 October.

Send me a message and let's get something in the diary. 💬

The squishy dumpling toys have taken over my grandchildren’s lives 🥟 Every parent/grandparent knows the ones 🙄

But THIS is the best use of a dumpling I've seen all year 👇🏻

It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this graphic shows it's not just about lumps.

Changes in shape, dimpling, skin colour, ni**le changes, texture or pain can all be signs.

So:
👉🏻Have a look and a feel
👉🏻Get to know what's normal for you (menopause can change things too)
👉🏻Anything different? See your GP.

Next time you step on a squishy dumpling, let it be your reminder to check 🩷

Share with someone who needs the nudge. Men too 🙏🏻

"Menopause needs to be taken more seriously." 🗣️

Not me for once 😅 That's the Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, after an ITV News investigation revealed a postcode lottery in how future doctors in England and Wales are taught about menopause.

Great to hear it. Now let's see the action! 💪🏻
Because while we wait, women are still turning up to work every day, often without the right support.

This ITV News story really hit home💔

New research from Liverpool John Moores University found that HRT reduced suicidal thoughts in menopausal women by 92%.

And yet 1 in 6 women in the study were misdiagnosed or handed antidepressants instead - often because of outdated fears about HRT that were disproven years ago.

Su***de rates in women peak at 45–54. That's not a coincidence. That's menopause.

If you've ever felt dismissed, fobbed off, or like nobody was listening - please know it's not in your head, and it's not your fault.

This is exactly why the work I do exists - helping women get informed, and helping workplaces understand what's really going on so nobody has to suffer through this alone.

October is Menopause Awareness Month and this year I’m adding to the "one size fits all" session.

Because menopause doesn't happen on its own. It shows up alongside neurodivergence, cancer treatment, culture, family, identity - and if we only ever talk about it in isolation, we miss what actually helps people feel supported.

So this October I’m offering something different 👇🏻

🧠 Neurodiversity & Menopause - why perimenopause can be the moment neurodivergence gets discovered, plus practical tools that help at work

🎗️ Breast Cancer & Menopause - what happens when treatment and menopause collide, and how to truly support that. It’s also Breast Cancer Awareness month, why not combine the two

🌍 Global Perspectives on Menopause - how culture shapes the conversation, and how to make your support genuinely inclusive

Any of these could be exactly what your team needs this October 💬

Fancy a chat about it? Send me a message or drop a comment below 👇🏻

A senior therapist in Hampshire has just won over £32,000 at tribunal after being left out of a restructure.

She’d been dealing with severe perimenopause symptoms since 2022 - migraines, hot flushes, recurrent UTIs. When her employer restructured, most of the team were offered new roles under the new business name. She wasn’t one of them.

The tribunal found disability discrimination, failure to make reasonable adjustments, victimisation, and wrongful dismissal.

You’d think a predominantly female industry like beauty and wellness would have this figured out by now. Apparently not.

This case is a reminder that menopause can legally count as a disability under the Equality Act 2010. That means reasonable adjustments aren’t a nice-to-have, they’re a legal duty.

And a restructure doesn’t wipe the slate clean. If the people who get left behind are the ones who’d raised health issues, that’s still a problem - whatever you call the reshuffle.

If you’re an employer and you’re not 100% sure your managers would handle this well, we can help. Menopause awareness training gives your team the confidence to support staff properly - and protects your business too.

💊 For those not on HRT - has anyone tried Sérélys MENO?

I came across this one and thought it was worth sharing with the group!

Sérélys MENO is a hormone-free supplement available at Holland & Barrett, designed specifically for women in perimenopause and menopause. Here’s what caught my attention:

✅ 100% non-hormonal - no phytoestrogens (no soy, flax, black cohosh, hops or sage)

✅ This includes no hormonal activity at all - making it potentially suitable for those who have had or are at risk of breast cancer and can’t take HRT (always check with your oncologist or GP first)

✅ Contains PureCyTonin - a purified cytoplasmic pollen extract (don’t worry, it’s allergen-free - very different from the pollen that triggers hay fever!)

✅ Also contains Vitamin E

✅ Aimed at reducing hot flushes, night sweats, fatigue and irritability

✅ Just one capsule a day - morning or evening

✅ Recommended for at least 2 months for best results

⚠️ A few things to note:

• If you have a known pollen allergy, check with your GP or pharmacist first

• It’s a food supplement, not a medicine, so results can vary

• If you’ve had breast cancer, please speak to your oncologist before trying any new supplement

• It’s not a replacement for medical advice, if you’re struggling, always worth a chat with your GP

This could be worth exploring if HRT isn’t right for you or you’re waiting for an appointment. Has anyone in the group tried it? I’d love to hear your experiences 👇🏻
