Ichor Health We offer you space and time away so your cancer diagnosis need not be a fight for survival but a revival of your life.

Nobody prepares you for that moment. 💔

You’ve imagined what you would say. You’ve rehearsed the words, the hug, the questions.

But suddenly, you’re standing in front of her, and nothing feels right.

Do you talk about the cancer?
Do you pretend everything is normal?
Do you cry? Do you smile?

Here’s something we’ve learnt from supporting people living with cancer:

You don’t need to find the perfect words.

You don’t need to promise everything will be okay.

Sometimes, just being there is enough.

Have that coffee. Laugh together. Talk about ordinary things. Let her cry if she needs to.

Because she’s still the person you’ve always known.

She has cancer. But she is not her cancer. 🤍

At Ichor Health, Pinky supports both people living with cancer and those who love them.

The best advice Pinky ever gave me about stress?

BREATHE.

Sounds obvious, right? We all breathe.

But I’m talking about REALLY breathing.

That long, deep, intentional breath that makes you realise just how much tension you’ve been carrying.

That tightness in your chest.
That heaviness in your shoulders.
That constant feeling of being on edge.

Sometimes, we’re so used to living with stress that we forget what it feels like to truly relax.

And then you breathe.

Your shoulders drop. Your chest softens. Your mind feels a little quieter.

Not because your problems have disappeared, but because, for a moment, you’ve allowed yourself to let go.

Pinky taught me this, and I don’t think she realises just how much it’s helped me. 🤍

So here’s your reminder today:

Unclench your jaw. Drop your shoulders. Take a deep breath. And slowly let it go.

The world can wait a few seconds.

Thank you 🤍

Mindfulness

🎀 Did you know that cancer cells can remain dormant in the body for years, even decades?

Like seeds waiting for the right environment to grow.

But what makes them wake up?

Several biological factors may play a role, including inflammation, immune system changes and hormonal signals.

One factor being investigated is chronic stress.

You know that feeling of constantly living in survival mode?

The pressure that never stops. The worries you wake up with. The feeling that your body is always on alert.

Chronic stress can affect our hormones, inflammation and immune system.

Life has a way of convincing us that we need to keep up.

Keep moving. Keep doing. Keep achieving. Keep saying yes.

But you don’t have to move at the same speed as everyone else.

Sometimes, slowing down is exactly what you need.

🍂 This evening, give yourself permission to step away from the busyness of life. To breathe. To be still. To go at your own pace.

Join Pinky for our free online meditation tonight at 8pm — a gentle space to slow everything down, even if just for a little while.

No experience needed. No expectations. Just come as you are.

September ends today. 🍂

This month, we’ve talked a lot about blood cancer.

About diagnosis.
About treatment.
About uncertainty.
About the things people are often too scared to ask out loud.

But Blood Cancer Awareness Month ending doesn’t mean those conversations should end too.

For many people, there is no “end of the month.”
They wake up tomorrow still living with a diagnosis.
Still waiting for results.
Still having treatment.
Still supporting someone they love.
Still learning how to live alongside uncertainty.

So as September comes to a close, this is simply a reminder:

You don’t have to wait for an awareness month to talk about it.
You don’t have to pretend you’re coping when you’re not.
And you don’t have to navigate it alone.

We’ll still be here in October. 🤍

We talk a lot about the sadness.

About being sick.
Living with illness.
Losing someone.
Grieving.
Living with uncertainty.

But we don’t talk enough about something else we see in our patients:

Happiness.

Not the happiness of everything suddenly being perfect.

A different kind.

The relief of finally understanding what’s happening.
The freedom that can come after good news.
The moment when the unknowns don’t feel quite so frightening anymore.

And sometimes, something deeper changes.

You realise that life isn’t something to keep waiting to live.

It’s the sunshine coming through the window in the morning.
A coffee with someone you love.
Laughing without thinking about it.
Going for a walk.
Making plans again.
Enjoying an ordinary Tuesday.

Illness and grief can change us.

And sometimes, amongst everything they take from us, they also make the ordinary parts of life feel extraordinarily precious.

There can still be sadness.
There can still be fear.

And there can be happiness too. 🤍

🌕 TODAY: THE HARVEST FULL MOON

A harvest is not only about what we gather.

It’s also about recognising
what has grown,
what has changed,
and what we are ready to leave behind.

As autumn begins and tonight’s Harvest Moon rises, take a moment to ask yourself:

What am I carrying into this new season?
And what am I ready to put down?

You don’t have to have all the answers.

Sometimes, simply noticing is enough. 🍂🤍

We always feel guilty saying it out loud.

“I feel relieved.”

Today, someone asked us:

“Is it okay to feel relieved after losing my husband?”

Yes.

Relief can be part of grief.

Relieved that they are no longer suffering.
Relieved that the fear and uncertainty have ended.
Relieved that you no longer have to watch someone you love deteriorate.
Relieved that the caring, worrying and waiting are over.

And then comes the guilt.

“How can I possibly feel relieved when I loved them so much?”

Because grief isn’t just sadness.

You can miss someone desperately and still feel relief.
You can wish they were here and still feel grateful their suffering has ended.

Relief doesn’t mean you loved them any less.

Sometimes, grief holds two completely different feelings at exactly the same time. 🤍

It’s Friday. You finish work early.

You could go for drinks.
Meet some friends.
Go home and start your weekend.

Or you could stop by the hospital and have a coffee with the friend who’s been spending their Friday there.

You don’t need to know what to say.
You don’t need to cheer them up.
You don’t need to talk about cancer.

Just bring the coffee. Sit down. Be there.

Because you might forget that Friday afternoon.

They probably won’t. 🤍

Be the friend who comes for coffee.
Especially when the coffee is at the hospital.
