This Feedback Friday, we’re celebrating two lovely reviews for our Hull and Sheffield teams.

Lynsey, a senior solicitor at the Hull office, and Joe, a trainee solicitor at the Sheffield office, have both been praised for the exceptional service and support they provide to their clients.

💬"Lynsey is a real credit to Medical Solicitors and I cannot thank her enough for all the hard work, patience and continued support with my case."
💬 "What stood out the most was the kindness and compassion Joe and the team have shown throughout what has been a very challenging time."

Supporting people through medical negligence claims requires compassion, dedication and understanding, and it’s wonderful to see these qualities recognised at every stage of our team.

Both cases are still ongoing so it means a lot that both these clients have taken the time to share such kind words before their claims have reached a settlement.

Only properly trained professionals will be allowed to offer high-risk cosmetic procedures under long-awaited government plans for England in 2027.

Under the government's new rules:
🔹Fillers injected into parts of the body other than the face, like liquid BBLs, will be legally defined as cosmetic surgical procedures, meaning only doctors could perform the surgery

🔹High-risk non-surgical or wellbeing treatments, including deep chemical peels, vampire facials, dermal micro-coring and some laser procedures would be restricted to doctors, dentists and some nurses, midwives and pharmacists who have been trained

🔹Cosmetic surgery and risky treatments will be banned for under 18s - lip fillers and face Botox on children has already been stopped

The government said it wanted to "drive cosmetic cowboys out of the market" and shield people from treatments "that can go badly wrong".

Delays in diagnosing and treating breast cancer can have a devastating impact on patients, affecting the stage and grade of disease, treatment options, recovery time and potentially reducing the overall chance of survival.

Patients who have suffered breast cancer medical negligence may be able to make a claim for compensation for the extent of their injuries and any financial losses caused directly by the negligence.

If you are looking for more information about claiming compensation for delayed diagnosis of breast cancer, our blog looks at some of the important things you need to know - from time limits to evidence that may help your case.

October is breast cancer awareness month and later this week we will be turning our offices pink for Wear it Pink day.
But did you know that breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK with one woman diagnosed every 10 minutes?

Over 55,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, affecting 1 in every 7 women.

Thankfully, survival rates have doubled in the past 50 years due to things like improvements in treatment, the NHS breast screening programme for earlier detection, and the annual breast cancer awareness month encouraging women to check their breasts regularly for lumps.
With that in mind, here are some signs to be aware of.

Unfortunately, there are still many cases of negligence each year which can lead to misdiagnosis or delayed diagnosis of breast cancer.
Negligence could arise because screening guidelines are not followed, tests are not correctly interpreted, inappropriate treatment was given, or infection was mismanaged post-treatment.

If you are one of these people, you may be looking for answers, especially if your experience allowed the cancer to spread or took away the chance of a cure. You may also want to try and prevent mistakes happening to other cancer patients in the future.
More information about why people choose to make a breast cancer compensation claim can be found here https://www.medical-solicitors.com/medical-negligence/cancer-claims/breast-cancer/

Or contact our team for a no obligation chat to see if you may have a claim for compensation.

This week, Natasha from our Sheffield office received this brilliant review from one of her clients who she is supporting with a claim for misdiagnosis of a scaphoid fracture.
The case is still ongoing, but at the start of the week Tash secured an interim payment to help her client's recovery before a final settlement is reached.
We are so pleased to hear that they have felt supported from the very beginning, and we know they will be in very capable hands as the claim progresses.

As we reach the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week, our thoughts are with all bereaved families affected by pregnancy or baby loss 💗💙
Tonight there will be the annual where bereaved parents across the country light a candle in memory of those babies too precious for earth.

Losing a child, either through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or neonatal death, can be an isolating time for bereaved parents. Baby Loss Awareness Week is an initiative to show bereaved families they are not alone and help is available.

We don't always know why baby loss happens - sometimes the cause is unexplained. But knowing a baby's death or a pregnancy loss could have been avoided had it not been for errors with medical care remains devastating and painful for families.

Our team of medical negligence lawyers have supported many bereaved parents over the years seek closure and compensation for the avoidable loss of their children.

While these cases are upsetting, they also give hope that justice can be sought and these precious babies will never be forgotten.

Blood clots can affect anyone, but women may face particular risks at different stages of their lives, through adolescence, pregnancy, menopause and beyond.
Risk factors can include:
🔹Using combined hormonal contraception containing oestrogen
🔹 Pregnancy and the weeks following childbirth
🔹 Previous blood clots or a family history of thrombosis
🔹 Surgery, hospital admission or prolonged periods of immobility, including long journeys
🔹 Certain medical conditions, including cancer and inherited or acquired clotting disorders
🔹 Smoking and being overweight or obese

Having a risk factor does not mean a blood clot will develop, but it is important that individual risks are considered when prescribing medication and planning treatment.

This Thrombosis Day, we’re highlighting the experiences of three women we have supported in pursuing medical negligence claims following concerns about their care.

🔹Two women developed serious blood clots — a DVT and a PE — following concerns about the prescribing of contraception. They both had family history of vascular disease which wasn't taken into account (or even discussed) before the medication was prescribed.

🔹 Another woman's DVT returned after concerns about the dose of anticoagulant medication she received and the advice she was given about travelling abroad.

If you or a loved one has suffered due to delayed diagnosis or poor treatment of a blood clot, our specialist medical negligence team is here to help.
Contact us confidentially today on 0114 250 7100

She did it! 🥳
A huge well done to our superstar HR manager Katie for completing the Chicago Marathon yesterday, crossing the finish line with a new PB of 3:38:18! 👏
That’s an average pace of 8:20 min/mile which is just incredible for us mere mortals who would struggle to run 1 mile let alone 26.2.
Hope your toenails survived and we can’t wait to hear all about it when you’re back.

Last Friday, Abbie and Lynsey from our Hull team represented Medical Solicitors in Yorkshire’s first padel tournament.
Over 70 players came together to raise funds for a little boy called Charlie who is undergoing treatment for a rare and aggressive soft tissue cancer.
Thank you to James Ray Recruitment for organising such a great event. Our duo were both shattered after 2 hours of playing but they had so much fun - and all for a great cause.
