Rest isn't something you have to earn. 💜

It's easy to feel like we should always be doing something. Finishing another task, ticking something off the list, or making the most of every spare minute.

But rest is an important part of looking after our wellbeing.

Taking time to pause can help us recharge, especially when life feels busy or stressful.

And rest doesn't have to look the same for everyone. It might mean reading a book, enjoying a quiet cup of tea, spending time outdoors, or simply doing nothing for a little while. 🌿

So here's your reminder today: it's okay to take a break, even when your to-do list isn't finished.

💙 What's your favourite way to recharge?

Feeling stressed or overwhelmed? Take a moment to breathe. 💜

When life feels busy, even something as simple as slowing down our breathing can be a helpful way to pause.

In an episode of *Moving Minds Forward*, Gary Johannes explores five breathing techniques for managing moments of stress and anxiety — and explains why they may help.

🌿 Belly breathing — focusing on slow, gentle breaths.

💙 Longer-exhale breathing — breathing out for a little longer than you breathe in.

✨ Box breathing — using a steady rhythm to focus your attention.

You don't need to master every technique. Start with one that feels comfortable and try practicing it when you're calm.

Remember, breathing exercises can help in the moment, but they're not a replacement for support if stress or anxiety is affecting your daily life.

What we repeatedly focus on can influence the way we think, feel and respond. 🧠

Our brains are capable of change, and the patterns we practise can play a part in that process.

At Inspired to Change, solution-focused hypnotherapy is about looking towards the future rather than repeatedly revisiting the past.

By focusing on the changes we want to make and imagining more helpful ways of responding, we can begin to build a different perspective.

🌿 Because positive change starts with looking at what's possible.

Does Monday start weighing on your mind before Sunday is even over? 💭

That familiar feeling of dread as the weekend draws to a close is often called the Sunday scaries.

But it isn't always about what's waiting on your to-do list.

Sometimes, it's the stress, overthinking and little worries that have been building up throughout the week, leaving your mind struggling to properly switch off.

In our blog, Solution Focused Hypnotherapist Marina Love explores why this happens, how our patterns of thinking can play a part, and how we can begin to approach the week ahead differently.

Why do panic attacks feel so frightening? 🧠

A racing heart. A tight chest. Feeling dizzy or short of breath.

During a panic attack, your body's fight-or-flight response can become highly activated, even when there isn't an immediate threat.

And when those physical sensations feel frightening, they can fuel a cycle of fear and anxiety.

In the latest Moving Minds Forward episode, Gary Johannes explores what's happening during a panic attack, what can keep the cycle going, and practical approaches that may help.

Swipe through for a simple explanation, then listen to the full episode to learn more. 🎧

Ever get into bed feeling tired, only to find you're suddenly wide awake? 🌙

A bedtime routine doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes, it's the small things you do before getting into bed that can help you settle down for the night.

📱 Take a break from scrolling.

📖 Make time for something relaxing.

🕰️ Try to keep a consistent sleep schedule.

You don't need to change everything at once. Start with one habit that feels realistic for you.

Do you ever sit down to relax… and immediately feel like you should be doing something? 👀

Sometimes we're technically resting, but mentally we're still thinking about the next job, the unfinished task or what we should be doing.

In this episode of Moving Minds Forward, Gary explores why switching off can feel so difficult — and why relaxation is something we may need to practise rather than something we're automatically able to do.

🎙️ Why You Can't Switch Off

"Your speed doesn't matter, forward is forward"

When working towards a goal or an outcome it can be so easy to compare our progress to others, to see how much better, or faster they are progressing and to beat ourselves up for not being good enough.

And whilst some things in life have deadlines attached to them, many of our timelines are self imposed giving us the opportunity to appreciate each small step taken and remember to enjoy the journey along the way!

"Be kind to yourself"

We are often much quicker to show kindness to others than we are to ourselves.

Even in simple things like saying thank you, and giving compliments.

When was the last time you thanked yourself or gave yourself a compliment?

Why is this important?

Research in to the neuroscience of self-compassion shows us that when we show kindness to ourselves it decreases activity in the areas of our brain that process stress and negative emotions, lowering our levels of stress, anxiety and depression.

I wonder how you will show kindness to yourself this week?
