We’re at the Academy of Medical Educators Annual Academic Meeting 2026 at Conference Aston, Birmingham, on 20–21 October.

This year’s theme, “Safeguarding Excellence in Health Professions Education”, looks at how educators can protect the quality of training while services are under pressure, workforces are stretched and resources are tight. It’s a challenge we think about every day. For more than a century, Adam, Rouilly has worked with educators to make sure that hands-on clinical skills training stays consistent, realistic and accessible, whatever the setting.

Today is World Anatomy Day, a chance to recognise the role anatomy plays at the foundation of every clinical skill.

This is what ultrasound-guided cannulation looks like from the educator’s side of the probe.

In our new series, we’re handing the camera over and showing you our simulators the way your learners will use them: hands-on, in real time, no edits to smooth it over.

First up, a vascular access block from our Ultrasound range. Watch the full workflow: find the vessel, steady the probe, line up the needle and advance under real-time guidance until the cannula is in place.

Today is 👁️

Early detection of eye disease depends on clinicians who can recognise what they're seeing, in every patient they examine.

Accessing an implanted port is a skill patients feel as much as clinicians perform: a confident, well-explained stick makes all the difference to someone receiving ongoing treatment.

That's why we're pleased to now offer the VATA Wearable Port Access Trainer™, a versatile port access simulator that can be worn by a standardised patient, mounted on a full-body manikin, or used on the tabletop.

Learners can practise the complete stick-to-flush workflow with a 20g Huber needle, including blood aspiration, flashback confirmation, and catheter flushing and maintenance. Two interchangeable skin flap thicknesses (6mm and 12mm) and three port inserts (standard, tipped, and deep or floating) build confidence across varying tissue depths and port placements. Worn on a standardised patient, it also creates space to practise communication and bedside manner alongside technical skill.

We're delighted to be supporting the first inaugural SimHE conference, organised by Lynsey McLeish!

Great to see an interprofessional community of educators, clinicians, and simulation technicians coming together at Buckinghamshire New University to share best practice and shape the future of simulation in health education.

We also spotted a fantastic poster by Megan White, showcasing simulation support for embedding infant feeding education within an interprofessional nursing module, featuring our KOKEN AK026M Newborn Baby, Male. A brilliant example of simulation driving real clinical education impact.
