Working 10-12 hour days every day, skipping breaks, working evenings and weekends, squeezing in one more client… it shouldn’t be something we feel we have to do to be successful.

I used to think that was what building a successful business looked like. Until my body forced me to slow down.

And honestly? I wish I’d realised sooner that burning yourself out isn’t a badge of honour.

You can be passionate about what you do, build a fully booked business, make good money and still have a life outside of your work.

Your worth as a nail tech isn’t measured by how many clients you can squeeze into a day or how little time you give yourself to rest.

You don’t have to run yourself into the ground to prove you’re good at what you do.

Build a business that works for your life, not a life that revolves around your business. 🤎

And if you needed a reminder to slow down, take your break or stop feeling guilty for having a day off… this is it.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT 🤍

January marked the start of a new chapter for TaylorMade Beauty who joined me for eFile training before she started her self-employed nail technician journey.

And she hit the ground running! The improvement in her work was immediate, and it’s always so rewarding to see what happens when a nail tech gains the knowledge, understanding and confidence to take their skills to the next level.

Education isn’t just about learning something new. It’s about understanding the why behind what you do, building good habits and having the confidence to put it all into practice.

I’m so proud of the progress she made, and I can’t wait to share more of my students’ journeys with you. 🫶🏻

I was ready to quit. Hundreds spent on trialing different products and training, and nothing was working.

Then, in a random conversation, I told Paulina Zdrada how I was feeling. And everything changed.

Knowledge, an opportunity, and someone who believed in me on a day I couldn’t believe in myself.

We can feel so alone when building a business, but the truth is, we don’t get to where we are entirely on our own. Sometimes, one person can change everything.

Building a business from nothing is one of the best, but also one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

A crazy journey!

People don’t see what it takes to literally jump in, put so much belief in yourself and just hope you can make it work.

The doubt. The stress. The sacrifices. The hard decisions that make you question whether you can do it. And the continuous pressure you put yourself under to keep pushing forward, be better and reach that next goal.

So many times I’ve stopped, cried and thought… I’m done. I’m so, so done. I can’t do it anymore.

I’ve questioned it all. I’ve felt completely burnt out and like I just couldn’t cope with the pressure of running a business.

But then something happens. That one moment that makes absolutely everything worth it. The opportunities, the people you meet, the clients you adore and those moments when you stop and look back at how far you’ve come.

I don’t think building a business is ever as straightforward as we imagine it will be. You learn as you go, make mistakes (LOTS OF THEM), change direction and figure things out along the way.

But if there’s one thing I’ve learnt, it’s that you can build something you’re incredibly proud of without having it all figured out from the start.

And honestly? I wouldn’t change the journey because it’s made me the businesswoman I am today. It’s taught me some extremely valuable life lessons, and when I sit and look at what I’ve built from absolutely nothing, I am so bloody proud of myself. 🤎
