Could your local pharmacist help before you book a GP appointment?
With NHS Pharmacy First, eligible patients can get advice, assessment and, where clinically appropriate, treatment for seven common conditions through participating community pharmacies.
These include:
• Sinusitis
• Sore throat
• Earache
• Infected insect bites
• Impetigo
• Shingles
• Uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women
There are specific age and eligibility criteria for each condition. For example, the Pharmacy First clinical pathways cover sinusitis from age 12, sore throat from age 5, impetigo and infected insect bites from age 1, shingles from age 18, earache in children aged 1–17, and uncomplicated UTIs in women aged 16–64.
For the seven clinical pathway conditions, patients can contact or attend a participating pharmacy directly without needing a GP referral. Your pharmacist will assess your symptoms, provide appropriate advice or treatment where suitable, and refer you to another healthcare professional if necessary.
At Aroga Pharmacy in Farnham Common, Pharmacy First is available for these common conditions, giving local patients another way to access professional healthcare advice.
