🚨 AESTHETICS REGULATION IS COMING. BUT ARE YOU READY?
The Department of Health and Social Care's latest consultation on aesthetics regulation should be a wake-up call for our industry.
And here's a question every aesthetics practitioner should be asking themselves...
If you were asked tomorrow to PROVE your clinical competence, what evidence could you actually produce?
🤔 A collection of certificates from one or two-day CPD courses?
OR...
✅ A portfolio of 100 real patient cases.
✅ Documented clinical assessments and treatment plans.
✅ Evidence of clinical reasoning and reflective learning.
✅ Supervised hands-on experience and mentor feedback.
✅ A Level 7 Diploma pathway.
There's a BIG difference between being trained to inject and being able to demonstrate clinical competence.
That's exactly why I've developed the BTC 100-Patient Pathway™.
10 clinical days. 100 real patients. A comprehensive Clinical Mastery Logbook™. Ongoing mentoring.
And importantly, YOU assess, plan and treat the patients under supervision. You're not simply watching someone else inject.
Will this automatically satisfy future regulation? Nobody can promise that. The requirements are still evolving.
But I know which practitioner I'd rather be when the new rules arrive.
Don't just collect certificates. Collect competence, confidence and clinical experience.

1️⃣ The BTC 100-Patient Pathway™: Full programme details.

I’M GONNA SAY SOMETHING MOST TRAINING ACADEMIES PROBABLY WON’T AGREE WITH…
Before we regulate the aesthetics industry…
REGULATE THE ACADEMIES.
There. That should make me popular 😂
We spend endless amounts of time arguing about who should inject.
What qualification they should have.
What licence they'll need.
Which treatments sit in which category.
Who should prescribe.
Who should oversee them.
Blah blah blah…
But can we discuss the rather large elephant sitting in the training room?
WHO THE HELL IS TRAINING THE PEOPLE DOING THE TREATMENTS?
Because I've been in aesthetics education for years and some of what goes on absolutely baffles me.
People teaching treatments they've barely been doing themselves.
“Trainers” whose primary qualification appears to be having 14,000 Instagram followers.
Courses crammed with delegates like a bloody Bruno Mars concert.
Six people gathered around one poor model, desperately trying to get their 0.1ml in before lunch.
Models being passed around like the Quality Street tin at Christmas.
Delegates leaving with a certificate…
but very little actual CONFIDENCE or COMPETENCE.
And then we act surprised when newly trained practitioners struggle.
WE CREATED THE PROBLEM.
You can regulate practitioners until the cows come home.
You can introduce licences.
Registers.
Qualifications.
Inspections.
More certificates to stick on clinic walls.
But if the EDUCATION producing those practitioners is s**t, you're regulating the symptom rather than the disease.
Here's my unpopular suggestion:
If we're serious about raising standards in aesthetics, TRAINING PROVIDERS should face scrutiny too.
Who is allowed to teach?
What experience should they actually have?
How many delegates can one trainer realistically supervise?
How much meaningful hands-on injecting should EACH delegate receive?
Should delegates be sharing models?
What constitutes competency?
And perhaps the most uncomfortable question of all…
SHOULD EVERYONE CURRENTLY TEACHING AESTHETICS ACTUALLY BE TEACHING AESTHETICS?
Because being able to perform a treatment does NOT automatically make you capable of teaching it.
Teaching is a completely different skill.
And printing a certificate at the end of the day doesn't magically turn poor education into good education.
Now obviously I'm biased.
I run a training academy.
So DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT.
Scrutinise us as well.
Ask us difficult questions.
Ask how many delegates are on the course.
Ask how many models YOU will treat.
Ask who is actually teaching you.
Ask how long they've been practising.
Ask what happens AFTER the course when you're standing in your clinic thinking…
“Sh*t. I've actually got to do this on my own now.”
And if an academy gets defensive because you're asking those questions?
That probably tells you something.
REGULATION SHOULDN'T JUST START AT THE NEEDLE.
It should start with the people teaching someone how to hold it.
There you go.
I've kicked the hornet's nest.
Agree or am I talking complete bo****ks?

WHY DO GOOD INJECTORS SOMETIMES GET POOR RESULTS? 💉

Here's something I've learned since I started injecting in 2002.

Being good with a needle doesn't automatically make you a good aesthetic clinician.

I've seen technically excellent injectors produce disappointing results.
Why?

Because the injection is often the easy part.

The real skill comes BEFORE you pick up the syringe.

1. Assessment: Have you identified the actual cause of the patient's concern, or are you just chasing lines?
2. Patient selection: Is this patient genuinely suitable for treatment?
3. Treatment planning: Are you treating the whole face or simply the area the patient pointed at?
4. Expectations: Does the patient understand what's realistically achievable?
5. Knowing when to STOP: Just because you CAN inject more doesn't mean you SHOULD.

You can have perfect injection technique and still achieve a poor aesthetic outcome if your clinical judgement is wrong.

After more than 20 years in aesthetics, one thing has become very clear to me.

The best injectors aren't necessarily the ones with the best hands.

They're the ones who make the best decisions BEFORE their hands get involved.

Agree or disagree?

NO GATEKEEPING. EVER. 🔓

I've been in facial aesthetics since 2002, and one thing I've always believed:

Knowledge should be shared, not hoarded.

The mistakes I've made. The lessons I've learnt. The clinical tips. The business strategies. What works. What doesn’t.

I'll happily share it all.

Because helping someone else succeed doesn't take anything away from your own success.

There's enough room for all of us to grow.

SELL THE WOW, NOT THE HOW! 🎁

One of the biggest mistakes I see clinicians make?

They spend far too much time explaining HOW they do something, rather than WHAT it will do for the customer.

Your patients don't buy Botox injections. They buy confidence.

Your clients don't buy your processes, systems or strategies. They buy the results those things create.

People don't buy the journey. They buy the destination.

Stop selling the ingredients. Start selling the finished cake! 🎂

Are you selling the WOW or boring people with the HOW? 👇

🚨 AESTHETICS REGULATION. FINALLY! ABOUT TIME OR IS IT?

13 years after the Keogh Review warned about the 'Wild West' of cosmetic treatments, are we finally seeing meaningful action?

The Government has announced further proposals to tighten regulation of high-risk aesthetic procedures in England.

✅ High-risk procedures, including liquid BBLs, face tougher restrictions.
✅ Certain invasive treatments would be restricted to appropriately qualified healthcare professionals.
✅ Stronger enforcement, with penalties for those breaking the rules.
✅ Spring 2027 is the proposed timetable for bringing legislation before Parliament.

⚠️ Important: These are proposals, NOT new laws already in force.

Consultation and parliamentary scrutiny still lie ahead.

I've been practising facial aesthetics since 2002, and my view is simple.

Regulation is long overdue. Patient safety, appropriate qualifications, clinical competence and accountability should never have been optional.

But here's the question…

Will these changes genuinely protect patients, or will we end up with more bureaucracy and insufficient enforcement?

You Missed It! But I've Got Something for You…

I noticed you didn't register for my RESET™ Marbella 2027 webinar.

Maybe you weren't interested.

Fair enough.

After all, who wants to spend three nights at a luxury five-star hotel in Marbella, enjoy some sunshine, have their accommodation and specified meals included, surround themselves with ambitious, like-minded people and spend three days working on becoming a better version of themselves?

And have the cost treated as a business expense!!!!!!!

Sounds terrible, doesn't it? 😂

Perhaps you don't need to top up your suntan either! ☀️

But joking aside, I wanted to share something with you anyway.

Because the webinar wasn't simply about Marbella.

It was about something I believe is far more important.

SELF-LEADERSHIP.

After more than 26 years in business, I've come to realise something.

You can have all the knowledge, qualifications, experience and ambition in the world.

But what if the biggest thing holding you back isn't the economy, the competition, your staff or your circumstances?

What if the real bottleneck is YOU?

Your habits. Your beliefs. Your priorities. Your decisions. Your ability to take action.

And that's exactly what we explored during the webinar.

During the presentation, I introduced my 5-part RESET™ Method:

R: REDEFINE YOURSELF™
Who are you today, and who do you need to become to achieve the future you want? We explore the limiting beliefs, habits and behaviours that might be holding you back.

E: ENERGY IS EVERYTHING™
You can have all the ambition in the world, but if you're constantly exhausted, stressed and running on empty, how effectively can you perform? We look at energy, health, focus and resilience.

S: STRATEGY BEFORE SPEED™
Being busy and making progress are not the same thing. Are you focusing on the right opportunities, or simply getting better at doing things that don't really matter?

E: EX*****ON OVER EXCUSES™
Why do we procrastinate? Why do we avoid difficult decisions? Why do we know what we should be doing but still don't do it? This is about turning knowledge into consistent action.

T: TAKE BACK CONTROL™
What does success actually look like for YOU? More money? More freedom? Better health? More time with your family? We explore how to create a business and life that support your personal ambitions.

THE BIG QUESTION…

What's really holding you back from getting to the next level?
And perhaps more importantly...
What's the cost of doing nothing about it?

Even if you have absolutely no intention of joining us in Marbella, I genuinely believe you'll take away some useful insights and practical ideas that you can implement during the remainder of 2026 and throughout 2027.

And it's completely free.

My pleasure.

🚨 AESTHETICS CLINIC OWNERS: YOU HAVE 10 WEEKS LEFT TO MAKE 2026 YOUR BEST YEAR YET.

And here's something that might surprise you…

You probably don't need more patients. You need to make better use of the opportunities already sitting in your clinic.

I've been running an aesthetics clinic since 2002, and one thing I've learnt is that increasing revenue isn't always about spending more money on advertising.

Sometimes, a few small changes can produce a BIG difference.

Here are 4 REVENUE LEVERS I'd be pulling before the end of the year. 👇

1️⃣ STOP LEAKING ENQUIRIES 💧
How many people enquire about Botox, fillers or skin boosters but never actually book?
Are you tracking your enquiries? Following up? Measuring how many turn into paying patients?
If 20 people enquire and only 5 book, your first priority isn't necessarily generating another 20 enquiries.
It's finding out why the other 15 didn't book.

2️⃣ LOOK AT YOUR EXISTING PATIENTS 💰
Your patient database could be sitting on thousands of pounds of untapped revenue.
When did you last contact patients who haven't visited for 6 months?
Are you recommending appropriate maintenance treatments?
Are patients aware of the other treatments you offer?
Your next £5,000 might already be sitting in your patient database.

3️⃣ STOP COMPETING ON PRICE 🏆
If your biggest selling point is that you're cheaper than the clinic down the road, you've got a problem.
Why should a patient choose YOU?
Your experience? Your consultation process? Your clinical expertise? Your natural-looking results? Your aftercare?
If patients can't see the difference, they'll compare the price.
Give them a compelling reason to choose you.

4️⃣ GET BETTER AT CONVERTING CONSULTATIONS 📈
You can have a fully booked consultation diary and still struggle financially.
Why?
Because enquiries don't pay the bills. Treatments do.
Review your consultation process.
Are you listening to what patients actually want? Are you educating them? Are you presenting appropriate treatment plans confidently?
Or are you simply quoting a price and hoping they book?

HERE'S MY CHALLENGE TO YOU...

Don't wait until January to start thinking about growing your clinic.
Pick ONE of these four areas.
Improve it over the next 30 days.
Measure the results.
Because sometimes the fastest way to grow your aesthetics business isn't to do MORE.
It's to get BETTER at what you're already doing.

🔧 THE JOB ISN'T FINISHED WHEN THE CAR LEAVES THE GARAGE!

Welcome back to THE AESTHETICS MECHANIC™.

Imagine collecting your car after a service.

The mechanic hands you the keys and says:
"All done. Off you go!"

No explanation.
No advice.
No warning signs to look out for.
No idea who to call if something goes wrong.

WOULD YOU BE HAPPY? 🤔

Well, why should our aesthetics patients be any different?

Too many clinicians focus on the injection...

But forget what happens AFTER the injection.

🔧 THIS WEEK'S AESTHETICS MECHANIC TIP:

THE 3-POINT POST-TREATMENT MOT.

Before your patient leaves, make sure they know:

🟢 1. WHAT'S NORMAL
Explain the expected recovery, possible swelling, bruising and when results are likely to develop.

🟠 2. WHAT'S NOT NORMAL
Explain the warning signs that require urgent assessment, particularly after dermal filler treatment, such as unusual or escalating pain, blanching, discolouration or visual disturbances.

🔴 3. WHO TO CALL
Give clear written aftercare instructions, an appropriate emergency contact pathway and explain when to seek immediate medical assistance.

And here's the important bit...
Don't just hand them a leaflet.

Ask them to explain back what they would do if something didn't feel right.
Because giving instructions doesn't necessarily mean they've been understood.

🔧 REMEMBER:
A good mechanic doesn't just fix the car.

They make sure the driver knows how to look after it.

And a good aesthetics clinician doesn't just perform the treatment.

THEY TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PATIENT JOURNEY AFTERWARDS.

🔧 THE AESTHETICS MECHANIC™

Looking under the bonnet of facial aesthetics, one clinical problem at a time.

💬 Do you verbally explain aftercare, or just hand your patients a leaflet?
