đź’š OCD Week of Action đź’š
OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is often misunderstood, so this week is an opportunity to raise awareness, challenge misconceptions and remind people that support is available.
OCD is more than simply liking things tidy or organised. It can involve unwanted, intrusive thoughts, images or urges, alongside repetitive behaviours or mental rituals that can cause significant distress and affect everyday life.
đź’š A few things worth remembering:
* OCD can affect anyone.
* You cannot always tell that someone is experiencing OCD just by looking at them.
* OCD is not a choice, and it’s not something someone can simply switch off.
* With the right support and treatment, people can learn to manage their symptoms.
This week, let’s listen without judgement, be mindful of the language we use and help create a more understanding and supportive community.
If OCD is affecting you or someone you care about, please know that you’re not alone. Your GP can help you explore the support and treatment available.
đź’š Small steps towards understanding can make a big difference.
