🎃👻 A Little History of Halloween 🕸️
Halloween dates back more than 2,000 years to an ancient Celtic festival called Samhain, celebrated in Ireland, Scotland and other parts of Europe.
The Celts believed that on this night, the boundary between the living and the dead became thinner, allowing spirits to visit the world.
Over time, Christian traditions influenced the celebration, and the evening before All Saints' Day became known as All Hallows' Eve, which eventually shortened to Halloween.
People began wearing costumes to ward off evil spirits, carving pumpkins into scary faces and sharing ghost stories.
Today, Halloween is celebrated around the world with fancy dress, trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving, spooky decorations and lots of fun!
🧡 We had a lovely spooky Halloween at Milverton this evening! There were smiles, singing, laughter and plenty of Halloween spirit. A wonderful evening filled with fun, friendship and special memories.

🎃🍂 A Very Creative Afternoon! 🍂🎃

What a wonderful afternoon filled with creativity, colour and a little Halloween magic! 🧡🖤

We enjoyed carving and colouring pumpkins 🎃 before trying something a little different — pumpkin flower arranging! 🌼🌻
Using whole pumpkins, wet floral foam and beautiful fresh flowers, we created our own unique autumnal arrangements. 🌸🍁

Farewell to Stenil Johnson

Always willing to help, always ready to go.
No task too big, no challenge too tall,
Stenil was there, giving his all.

Now comes the time we must say goodbye,
With heavy hearts and tears in our eyes.
Though you may leave us, your memory will stay,
In the hearts you touched along the way.

The home will feel different without you here,
Thank you for everything you have done, for residents, relatives, and your colleagues.
You will forever be part of this home.

🌿🧘‍♀️ Tai Chi at Milverton! 🧘‍♂️🌿

It was lovely to see our residents joining in, giving it a go, and enjoying the gentle movements together. A big thank you to our amazing carers for their wonderful support, encouragement, and helping hands 🥰👏

Tai Chi is a fantastic activity for our residents, offering many benefits, including:

🎨🧡 A Lovely Day Full of Creativity and Fun! 🍂❤️

🎨 Morning: Busy Lizzy Art & Craft ✂️🍁

Our residents got creative during our Busy Lizzy Art & Craft session, making spooky Halloween decorations 🎃👻 as well as beautiful poppies ❤️🌺

Everyone really enjoyed the session, showing off their creativity and making some lovely decorations. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved and expressing themselves through art! 🖌️✨

🍻 Afternoon: Fun at the Maypole Pub!

In the afternoon, we headed to the Maypole Pub. Instead of our usual pub quizzes, this time we played “Would You Rather?” 😂🤔
It was such a fun way to spend the afternoon together.
We were also delighted to have some of our residents’ family members join us. ❤️ Their company made the afternoon even more special 🥰💕

🍰🇮🇹 Bake Off Tuesday – Tiramisu! 🇮🇹🍰

What a lovely day we’ve had making tiramisu together! 🥰 Our residents got stuck in, layering the ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone, adding their own special touch and, most importantly, having fun along the way! ❤️

It’s so important that our residents feel involved, valued and proud of what they’ve helped create. 🫶

🎶 We enjoyed listening to our favourite tunes from the 50s and 60s, sharing memories and singing along. After much reminiscing, we found our favourite song of the day — “Those Were the Days” by Mary Hopkin 🎵 What a beautiful trip down memory lane ❤️

😊💪 Chair-Seated Exercises & Ball Fun! ⚽🎈

Today, our residents enjoyed a lovely session of chair-seated exercises, keeping active, moving their bodies, and having lots of fun together! 🪑✨

We used balls of different sizes — small, medium, and very big ones! 🟡🔵🔴 From gentle movements to passing and playing with the balls, everyone had the opportunity to join in, stay active, and enjoy some laughter along the way. 🥰👏
