☀️MORNING LIGHT = BETTER SLEEP 🌙
One of the simplest ways to support your sleep actually starts during the daytime.
Getting outside into natural daylight—particularly earlier in the day—helps set your body’s internal clock, or circadian rhythm. ☀️
Light entering your eyes sends signals to the brain that it’s daytime, helping support serotonin activity, which is associated with mood, wellbeing and alertness. 🧠💛
And here’s the clever part…
As evening arrives and light levels fall, your brain increases production of melatonin, the hormone that helps prepare your body for sleep. 🌙😴 Serotonin is also a biochemical precursor used in the pathway that produces melatonin.
So rather than thinking about good sleep only at bedtime, think about what you do from the moment you wake up.
☀️ Get outside into daylight
🚶 Take a morning walk if you can
🌳 Spend time in natural light during the day
🌙 Dim bright lights later in the evening
📱 Reduce bright screens close to bedtime
Better sleep begins long before your head hits the pillow.
