This is the view from the workshop in Tarbert, looking out over Loch Fyne.
Damn Fyne Soap is made here in small batches, by hand, on Scotland’s west coast.
Not a bad place to spend a working day.

A lot of people first find Damn Fyne Soap through one of my soap-cutting videos.
But behind those few seconds of cutting is a very small business that I still run largely myself.
I’ve been making soap since 2008, here in Tarbert on Loch Fyne. Some days are spent making, others filling bottles, packing orders, labelling, stocking shelves or sitting at the laptop doing all the less photogenic bits.
It’s a small business — and I’m quite happy for it to stay that way.

Six soaps. Six different essential oil blends. One box.
I put this gift box together for anyone who finds it difficult to choose just one soap — which, to be fair, is quite an understandable problem.
It contains three of my Signature Soaps — Fyne Spice Drift, Highland Light and Westcoast Wildflower — along with three of my Triple Butter Soaps: Bergamot, Patchouli & Neroli, Lavender & Orange, and Rose Geranium & Lemon.
They're all handmade by me in small batches in my workshop in Tarbert, with each one having its own essential oil blend.
I've kept the packaging simple too: six soaps tucked into a corrugated kraft box, wrapped with a vellum band.
It feels slightly early to mention presents, but October has arrived rather quickly... so I'll just quietly leave this here.

A little tidying up before the cutting begins.

Once the soap has come out of the mould, I trim the sides of each loaf by hand before cutting it into individual bars.

Just one of those small jobs that goes into every batch of Damn Fyne Soap.

Highland Light — one that's been part of my range for quite a while.
Scented with lemongrass, May Chang and frankincense essential oils, it has a fresh, bright citrus scent with the frankincense adding a little warmth underneath.
Like all of my Signature Soaps, there are no added colours — what you see is simply the natural colour of the oils and butters used to make it.
I make each batch in my workshop in Tarbert using olive oil, coconut oil and shea butter.
Sometimes the simplest bars are still my favourites.

A little bit of Loch Fyne in every bag.
My bath salts are made with sea salt, essential oils and dried seaweed from Loch Fyne.
The seaweed is collected locally, dried and prepared before being added to the salts — something I've been doing for quite a while now, long before I started thinking about using it in other products.
There are three blends, each with its own essential oil combination:
Heather Brae — orange, lavender & patchouli
Patchouli & Neroli
Rose Geranium, Bergamot & Lemongrass
Made in small batches in my workshop in Tarbert.
