Have you brushed up on our recycling advice? 🪥
Empty toothpaste tubes can be recycled from home.
By simply placing empty tubes in your bright blue recycling bag, you can help reduce the amount of plastic waste in your rubbish bin.
Please squeeze as much out of them as possible, that way we’re just left with the plastic.
Check that your toothpaste tubes are made from recyclable materials. Most toothpaste tubes are, but it’s always good to double-check – look for the 'Recycle' symbol

We know the power of food.

We know it can bring people together, help build resilience, break down barriers and bring joy. And we know there are an incredible number of small groups, charities and organisations who do this every day in our communities.

We're therefore proud to launch The Community Table Award in partnership with Taste of the West, celebrating the charities and community groups bringing good food to everyone across the south west.

Whether it's a community larder stocked by local producers, a weekly lunch club for isolated neighbours, a cooking class or a surplus food project, we want to hear about it!

The Community Table Award is free to enter and open to even the smallest, grassroots projects.

You can enter yourself or nominate a group (with their permission).

The winner and runner up will be announced at Taste of the West's Awards ceremony on February 2 2027.

Somerset Dementia Connect Phoneline provides quick, convenient access to our Somerset Dementia Wellbeing Service’s Dementia Support Workers (provided by the Alzheimer's Society). 📞

The team offers information and practical guidance to help people understand the condition, cope with day-to-day challenges and prepare for the future.

It also works with Somerset NHS Foundation Trust’s Memory Assessment Service to provide quick answers to clinical questions.

The phone line is open to people with dementia and their carers, clinicians and anybody who needs access to trusted, reliable information about dementia in Somerset.
