Most people wait to book in until something’s wrong… 👀

But regular sessions every 4–6 weeks, even when you’re not training hard or competing, can help keep your body doing all the important stuff and catch small issues before they turn into an injury that stops you doing what you love.

Your body is still adapting, even when you’re not training or competing as much. Changes in activity, rest and routine can all affect how you feel and move, and tightness or imbalances can creep up without you even noticing.

Regular appointments help you stay on top of things, maintain how your body moves and catch any niggles early, before they become bigger problems.

That way, when training picks back up and competition season rolls around, you’re not starting from scratch.

Don’t wait until something hurts to give your body some attention 🍃

💖Women and Girls in Rugby Week💖

Holly Ahearne

Position held within the club: Head of Medical

We caught up with Holly, who had this to say:

"I oversee the medical provision across the club, leading/over seeing screening, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and matchday care. One thing I’m incredibly proud of is establishing our ALL female medical team for our senior teams set up.

I’m proud to show that women belong in every part of sport, including senior medical and leadership roles. For me, being a role model is about showing the next generation of young girls that they can break barriers, believe in themselves and take their place in the industry."

Holly is a BSc (Hons) Sports and Exercise Therapy graduate and proud owner of an award-winning 5 star sports therapy clinic.

Sport has always been a huge part of her life. She's played football and netball and taken part in athletics.

Holly's history:
"My experience includes working with Llanwit Fardre, being lead therapist for Coleg y Cymoedd women’s rugby team Rhondda Outlaws, beach rugby Wales, California Legion Youth, boxers and supporting triathletes before events. As well as supporting athletes through fitness testing during my time as a student under the WRU."

As if that wasn't enough, alongside her clinical work, Holly published a sports therapy book and created revision resources to support students throughout their studies!

"I’m also so proud to be a finalist for Female Entrepreneur of the Year!"

An interesting fact about Holly? She comes from a big rugby family!

We love a female entrepreneur💖

A question I get asked all the time…

It’s a question I’m always happy to answer, because there’s so much more to sports therapy than people might think! 👀

A Graduate Sports Therapist is an allied healthcare professional holding at least a BSc (Hons) in Sports and Exercise Therapy, specialising in musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries and conditions.

We are highly qualified in:
⭐️ Assessment and diagnosis of MSK injuries and conditions.

⭐️ Treatment, including sports massage, hands-on therapy, joint mobilisation, electrotherapy and other appropriate treatment modalities.

⭐️ Rehabilitation, prevention and return to sport, helping individuals safely regain function and performance.

⭐️ Pitch-side first aid and, where appropriately qualified, pre-hospital care.

⭐️ Referral for further investigation or imaging, when clinically indicated and within their professional scope of practice.

We work with athletes, recreational sports participants and the general population to manage MSK conditions, restore function and support a safe return to sport, work and everyday activities.

Graduate Sports Therapists use clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice to deliver individualised care and optimise recovery. We continue to strengthen our knowledge with regular CPD and are certified by the SST.

Having a lymphatic drainage treatment? 🤍

Want to make the most of your appointment? Here are 3 things to avoid beforehand:

💧 Going in dehydrated
Hydration is key. Drinking enough water helps support your body’s natural fluid balance, so keep sipping throughout the day.

🍽️ Having a heavy meal beforehand
Try not to eat a large meal right before your treatment. Giving your body some time to digest will help you feel more comfortable and relaxed during your appointment.

🍸 Drinking alcohol
It’s best to skip alcohol before your treatment, as it can contribute to dehydration and may leave you feeling less than your best.

Save this post and come back to it before your next appointment ✨
