A little glimpse of the calm before the magic…

There’s something so lovely about setting up the room, laying out the mats, lighting the candles, arranging the blankets and knowing that soon the space will be filled with people taking some much-needed time for themselves.

Last night’s Restorative Pilates & Sound Bath was such a beautiful evening.

We began with gentle movement, stretching and mindful breathing, allowing the body to release some of the tension and stresses of the week, before settling down for Sammy’s beautiful sound bath.

Looking around the room at the end, everyone seemed so deeply relaxed and peaceful. It was such a special atmosphere.

In a world where we’re constantly rushing, thinking, doing and giving to others, sometimes the most important thing we can do is simply STOP

No to-do lists. No distractions. No expectations.

Just time to move, breathe, let go and rest.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us. We absolutely love sharing these sessions with you and hope you carried a little of that calm into your weekend.

And if you’ve been thinking about joining us, we’d love to welcome you to a future session. 🧡

Your body and mind deserve a little time out too.

Pumpkin Soup

Serves 4 (approx)

Ingredients

1 medium pumpkin (about 1–1.2kg), peeled, deseeded & chopped
1 onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, chopped
1 carrot, chopped
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
500-750ml vegetable stock
1 tsp ground cumin
½ tsp turmeric
½ tsp smoked paprika
Black pepper
1 tsp tomato purée
2-3 tbsp Greek yoghurt, optional

Method

1. Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan and gently cook the onion for 5 minutes.
2. Add the garlic, carrot, cumin, turmeric and paprika. Cook for another minute.
3. Add the pumpkin, tomato’s purée and vegetable stock.
4. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 20–25 minutes, until the pumpkin and carrot are completely soft.
5. Blend until smooth. Add a little extra water/stock if needed.
6. Stir through Greek yoghurt for extra creaminess and protein, if you like.
7. Serve with pumpkin seeds, a drizzle of olive oil and plenty of black pepper.

To make it extra nourishing:

For a more substantial lunch, add red lentils (around 75g dried) when you add the pumpkin. They’ll cook in the soup and add fibre and plant protein.

You could also serve it with a wholegrain or sourdough toast ( I love sourdough)

Pumpkin and carrot contain colourful plant compounds, pumpkin seeds have healthy fats and minerals, lentils provide fibre/protein, and herbs/spices for extra flavour without needing loads of salt. 🧡

My breakfast pretty much every day, or some variation of it 🍓

40g porridge, cooked in water
1 square of 80% dark chocolate
Small handful of mixed nuts
Sprinkle of pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds or both
1 tsp chia seeds
1 tsp flax seeds
1 tsp cacao
2 tbsp Greek yoghurt
A mix of berries

Why?

Because I eat for health. 🧡

Every ingredient has been chosen with more than just calories or taste in mind.

I think about what I’m putting into my body and how it can support my energy, brain, gut, hormones and long-term health.

It’s not about eating perfectly.

It’s about understanding why you’re eating what you eat and building simple habits that support your health for years to come.

I’ll be sharing more about the why behind the foods I eat in my free downloadable wellness guide, coming in 2027.

Tomato, Pepper & Carrot Soup

For roughly 4 / 5 bowls I used:

1 onion,
2 carrots,
1/2 Red Pepper
1/2 Yellow Pepper
1/2 Orange Pepper
1 140g Tin of sweetcorn
3 (maybe 4) Garlic Cloves,
2 × 400g tins chopped tomatoes
500–700ml veggie stock.
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon basil (didn’t have any fresh basil)
Black Pepper (I don’t add salt as stock is salty)

Method: Soften the chopped onion, carrots and peppers in 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat for about 8–10 minutes.

Add the garlic and cook for another minute.

Add the tomatoes, sweetcorn and about 500ml stock, then season with black pepper.

Add paprika and dried basil.

Bring to a gentle boil, then simmer for 20–25 minutes, until the carrots and peppers are completely soft.

Blend until silky smooth. Add more stock if you’d like it thinner.

For an extra nutritional boost: blend in a drained tin of cannellini or butter beans (I didn’t have any today) You’ll barely taste them, but they’ll make the soup creamier and add fibre and protein.

I served with some seeded sourdough bread 👌

This is a great combination nutritionally, it has plenty of colourful vegetables, tomatoes are rich in lycopene, you’ll get vitamin C from the peppers, and no need for added sugar as you get the sweetness from the sweetcorn.

IS YOUR STRESS BUCKET OVERFLOWING?

Think of allostatic load as the wear and tear that can build when your body has to respond to stress repeatedly without enough opportunity to recover.

WHAT FILLS YOUR BUCKET?
Deadlines.
Poor sleep.
Noise.
Work pressure.
Conflict.
Financial worries.
Caring responsibilities.
Constantly being “switched on.”

One stressor might feel manageable. But when they keep dripping into the bucket without enough recovery, the load can build.

NOW THINK ABOUT THE DRAIN HOLES…
These are the habits that help you recover:
Movement
Quality sleep
Breathing + pauses
Connection
Nourishing food
Hydration
Mindfulness
Time outdoors

When stress keeps pouring in faster than recovery can keep up, chronic stress can contribute to problems such as fatigue, difficulty concentrating and changes in cardiovascular, metabolic and immune function.

THE GOAL ISN’T TO REMOVE EVERY STRESSOR.

Life will always contain challenges.
Instead, ask yourself:
What is filling my bucket?
What helps me recover?
Which drain could I make a little bigger this week?

Small recovery habits, repeated consistently, can make a meaningful difference.

You can’t always control what pours in but you can build more opportunities to recover.
