When your vision changes, everyday tasks like reading labels, checking prices or enjoying a book can suddenly feel harder, and it’s easy to assume you “just need a stronger magnifier.”

But the truth is: the right magnification isn’t always the highest one. It’s the one that gives you clarity without strain, glare or frustration.

Here’s what really makes a difference:

Working distance: Higher magnification often means holding things closer ,which isn’t always comfortable.

Lens size: Bigger lenses give you more viewing area, smaller lenses give you more power.

Lighting: Good lighting can reduce the magnification you need.

Task type: Reading a book, spotting a label, sewing, or using a screen all need different solutions.

Your remaining vision: The right aid supports what you can see, not what you’ve lost. And that’s why trying different options is so important.

We can help you explore handheld magnifiers, stand magnifiers, illuminated options and electronic video magnifiers, all designed to make everyday life clearer and more comfortable.

If you’re unsure what strength or style you need, we’re here to guide you.
The right magnification can make a world of difference.

Today is World Sight Day - a perfect moment to .

Our eyes support almost everything we do, yet it’s easy to take them for granted. Today, we’re joining the global campaign and sharing simple steps you can take to look after your eye health, small habits that make a big difference.

Have regular eye tests
Eye tests don’t just check if you need glasses, they can spot early signs of eye conditions, sometimes before you notice any changes.

Give your eyes a break
If you use screens a lot, try the 20‑20‑20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Protect your eyes from the sun
Choose sunglasses with good UV protection and never look directly at the sun.

Eat well for your eyes
A balanced diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables supports healthy vision.

Know what’s normal for you
If you notice any changes in your vision, speak to an optometrist or eye‑care professional.

Know your family history
Some eye conditions run in families. Understanding your family’s eye health can help you know your risks.

This World Sight Day, take a moment to , your vision matters.

As the seasons shift, the sun sits lower in the sky, and that beautiful golden light can quickly become a real challenge for anyone with sensitive or low vision.

Low sun can cause:

Harsh glare across the road
Reduced contrast
Difficulty judging distance
Sudden “white‑out” moments when the sun hits the windscreen
Extra strain and fatigue on already sensitive eyes

For many people, this can make everyday driving feel uncomfortable and sometimes unsafe. The right filter can make a huge difference.

Blue‑blocking and contrast‑enhancing filters help reduce scatter, soften glare and improve clarity, making it easier to see the road, signs and surroundings when the sun is low. For some, a polarised option offers even stronger glare control.

Small changes can also help keep you safe and comfortable:

Keep your windscreen clean inside and out
Use your sun visor more often
Avoid driving directly into sunrise or sunset when possible
Choose a filter that supports your specific visual needs

If you’re unsure which filter is right for you, we’re always here to help. Stay safe, stay comfortable, and protect your eyes this season.

Strictly Come Dancing is back for 2026 - and it’s fully accessible for viewers with sight loss.

If you have low vision, here’s how you can watch it clearly and comfortably:

Audio Description is available for every episode.
On BBC iPlayer, turn on AD by selecting the “Audio Description” version of the show.
On live TV, press the AD button on your remote (or use your accessibility settings).

The show works well with screen readers, magnifiers and high‑contrast modes.

If you need help finding the AD version on iPlayer, just scroll down to the “Audio Described” section, it’s clearly labelled and easy to tap.

Enjoy Strictly 2026!
