I spent YEARS trying to figure out what every individual symptom meant.

Why am I exhausted today? Why is my pain worse? Why can’t I tolerate this food anymore? Why did THAT make me crash?

And every new symptom felt like another problem I needed to solve.

One of the biggest turning points in my recovery was zooming out.

Instead of only asking, “How do I get rid of this symptom?” I started asking, “What do all of these symptoms have in common?”

For me, that led back to my brain + nervous system and the patterns keeping my body stuck in a cycle of perceived threat.

That didn’t mean ignoring my symptoms. It meant finally having a bigger framework for understanding them instead of chasing them one by one.

And that changed the way I approached recovery completely.

This is exactly the kind of work we go deeper into inside Somia’s Nervous System Recovery Membership.

If you’d like to chat about your own symptoms or joining the membership, send me a DM 🤍

You can know every nervous system regulation tool in the world and STILL struggle with anxiety.

Because calming your nervous system and changing the patterns that keep triggering it are two very different things.

The goal isn’t to spend your entire life managing anxiety every time it shows up. It’s to teach your brain and body new ways of responding so anxiety doesn’t keep running your life.

You deserve more than temporary relief.🤍

You can eat all the anti-inflammatory foods, cut out gluten and dairy, take every supplement under the sun, and STILL feel like your body is constantly fighting you.

And I know how frustrating that is, especially when you’re doing everything you’re supposedly meant to do to get better.

But here’s something we don’t talk about enough: your nervous system plays a HUGE role in how your body responds to stress, including the processes involved in inflammation.

When your body has spent years in a heightened stress response, changing your diet alone may not address everything contributing to how you feel.

This doesn’t mean nutrition doesn’t matter. It absolutely does.

It means your healing might require looking beyond what’s on your plate.

I spent years navigating chronic illness, and understanding the connection between my brain, nervous system, and physical symptoms completely changed how I approached my recovery.

If you’re curious about the nervous system recovery work that helped me get my life back, head to my RECOVER highlight 🤍

Nervous system regulation changed my life.

But regulation and retraining aren’t the same thing.

Regulation helped me recognize when my system was activated and gave me tools to support myself in those moments.

Retraining went deeper. It meant noticing the patterns my brain + body had learned over time and practicing different responses in the moments those patterns actually showed up.

You need BOTH.

Because the goal isn’t to never experience stress, symptoms or uncomfortable emotions again.

It’s to build a brain + nervous system that can experience LIFE without automatically interpreting everything as danger. 🤍

Inside Somia’s Nervous System Recovery Membership, we guide you through a structured pathway that goes beyond collecting more regulation tools.

One of the hardest parts of nervous system healing is accepting that you may never get the apology, closure, or accountability you deserve.

Especially when you’ve spent years people-pleasing, overexplaining, and trying to get others to understand how their behavior affected you.

Your nervous system can become so accustomed to seeking safety through other people’s reactions that setting boundaries, walking away, or choosing yourself can actually feel unsafe.

But your healing cannot depend on someone else’s willingness to change.

You can acknowledge what happened, feel the emotions you’ve been carrying, and start creating safety within yourself without waiting for someone else to give you permission.

You don’t need their accountability to start taking responsibility for your own healing. 🤍

You weren’t born believing you had to earn your right to rest, be loved, or take up space.

Somewhere along the way, you learned that being good, being easy, being productive, and putting everyone else first was how you stayed safe.

And those patterns don’t necessarily disappear just because you’re an adult now.

They can show up as perfectionism, people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, constantly pushing through exhaustion, or feeling guilty the second you slow down.

Here’s what we want you to understand:

Your nervous system can learn new patterns.

Recovery isn’t just about finding another tool to calm yourself down when things get overwhelming.

It’s also about understanding the patterns keeping you in survival mode and gradually learning a different way to respond to yourself and the world around you.

Because you deserve a life where you don’t have to constantly perform to feel safe. 🤍

If you’re ready to explore a more structured approach to nervous system recovery, DM me RECOVER to learn about Somia and our Nervous System Recovery Membership.

Fatigue. Brain fog. Digestive issues. Anxiety. Pain. Sleep problems. Sensitivities.

When you’re experiencing multiple symptoms, it’s easy to start treating each one like an entirely separate problem that needs its own solution.

But one of the biggest shifts in my own recovery was learning to look at the system underneath the symptoms.

For me, understanding the role my nervous system was playing changed the way I approached EVERYTHING.

Instead of endlessly chasing symptoms, I could start working with the patterns keeping my brain + body stuck in survival mode.

Sometimes the symptom isn’t the whole story.

Follow if you’re ready to understand what may be happening underneath your symptoms + learn a different approach to recovery. 🤍

Here’s the thing: you’re not supposed to wait until you feel better to start doing the work that helps you feel better.

And I know that sounds frustrating when you’re already exhausted, overwhelmed, and barely getting through the day.

But nervous system recovery isn’t about waiting until you have enough energy to do everything perfectly.

It’s about starting where you are, with what you have, and teaching your nervous system that change is possible through small, consistent steps.

You don’t need to push yourself harder or ignore your limits. You need an approach that actually meets you where you are.

Because the goal isn’t to spend the rest of your life preparing to recover.

It’s to start getting your life back. 💛

If you’re curious about where to start, check out my recover highlight and make sure to follow for more on nervous system recovery + brain retraining.

For a long time, I thought healing meant finding the right treatment, supplement, diet, routine or tool.

But some of the biggest shifts in my recovery had less to do with adding MORE and more to do with changing the way my brain + nervous system were responding to what was already happening.

How I responded to symptoms. How closely I monitored my body. What I did when my thoughts started spiraling.

How I experienced uncomfortable emotions. And whether I could actually use what I was learning in real life, not just during a scheduled practice.

These shifts completely changed the way I approached recovery and, eventually, the way I moved through my life. 🤍

And they’re a huge part of why we created Somia: to give you the structured recovery pathway + support I wish I had when I was sick.

If you’re ready to get started, head to my recover highlight or DM me and I’ll send you more info about the Nervous System Recovery Membership 🤍
