World Menopause Day - 18th October
Many people experience chronic pain during midlife, and for some, menopause can play a part.
Changes in hormone levels can affect muscles, joints and overall wellbeing, leading to symptoms such as joint pain, muscle aches, headaches and increased sensitivity to pain. These symptoms can have a real impact on daily life, work, sleep and mental wellbeing.
The good news is that support is available.
✅ Regular physical activity can help ease symptoms and improve mobility
✅ Good sleep habits can support overall wellbeing
✅ Maintaining a healthy weight may reduce pressure on joints
✅ Talking to a healthcare professional can help you explore treatment and management options
If chronic pain is affecting your daily life, don't struggle alone. Your GP practice can help you understand what's causing your symptoms and discuss the support available.

18th September - Youth Mental Health Day

Nearly half of young people in the UK say economic uncertainty makes them feel hopeless about the future. Wars, job insecurity, the cost of living, climate anxiety are all the daily backdrop to young people’s lives right now.

But 70% of young people still say they’re determined to achieve their goals. YMHD 2026 is about meeting young people where they are, acknowledging what’s hard, and helping them build forward anyway, one step at a time.

13th September - World Sepsis Day

Sepsis is a life-threatening medical emergency that can happen when the body's response to an infection damages its own tissues and organs. It can affect anyone, at any age.

This World Sepsis Day, help us raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of sepsis. Seek urgent medical help if someone has an infection and develops any of the following:

🔹 Slurred speech or confusion
🔹 Extreme shivering or muscle pain
🔹 Passing little or no urine
🔹 Severe breathlessness
🔹 Feeling like they might die
🔹 Skin that is mottled, bluish, pale or unusually discoloured

For children, look out for:

🔹 Fast breathing
🔹 Seizures or fits
🔹 A rash that does not fade when pressed
🔹 Being unusually sleepy or difficult to wake

Early recognition and treatment save lives.

Know the signs. Trust your instincts. Act fast.
