Myth or fact: you’re put to sleep for minor surgery? 🦉

Myth. Most minor procedures, like removing a mole, cyst, skin tag or repairing an earlobe, are done under local anaesthetic. You’re wide awake, the area is numb, and I talk you through every step. No overnight stay. You go home the same day.

Want to know what it really feels like? The full guide is on our blog, link in bio.

“Hey, I need to book an earlobe repair.”
That’s all it takes.
Torn by a heavy earring or stretched by gauges, most earlobes can be repaired under local anaesthetic.
Let’s connect at sml.surgery.

This is the journey our minor surgery patients take at SML Surgical Care in Ware: a friendly welcome at reception, up the stairs, and into our treatment room for a procedure under local anaesthetic. On the right are some of the results, shared with our patients’ kind permission.

Every scar heals differently. We’ll always talk you through what to expect for yours before you decide anything.

Men get breast cancer too.
It’s rare, but it’s real, and the signs are worth knowing. If you notice a change, see your GP, and don’t let embarrassment stop you. Please share this with the men in your life.
This is general information, not a diagnosis.

How much surgery is right for each person with breast cancer?

This week’s Friday update explores two new studies:

• Avoiding sentinel lymph node biopsy in carefully selected women with early breast cancer.
• Long-term outcomes after ni**le-sparing mastectomy with implant reconstruction.

The first offers practical evidence on reducing lymph node surgery, although follow-up remains short. The second raises questions about local recurrence, but cannot prove that preserving the ni**le caused the difference.

Neither study means everyone should change their treatment plan. Both highlight why individual assessment and a discussion of the benefits, risks and alternatives matter.

Save this for your next consultation, and follow for weekly updates on breast cancer surgery and care.

Snip it, or leave it?
Skin tags are common and harmless, but they can catch on jewellery and clothing, get sore, or just bother you.

Please don’t cut or tie them off at home. Removal is usually quick, in one short appointment.

Book online at sml.surgery or call 01920 455522.

From “Can you help?” to sorted, in one Saturday morning.
A cyst can sit quietly for years, then flare up, catch on clothing, or simply start to bother you. Removing one is usually a short procedure under local anaesthetic. You’re awake, the area is numb, and you go home the same day.
We remove the cyst whole, including its lining, so it’s less likely to come back.

Open Saturdays 9am to 5pm in Ware.
