Your daily walk isn't only good for clearing your head. 🍂🚶

Regular physical activity is part of an overall healthy lifestyle and can also support normal bowel function.

And it doesn't have to mean joining a gym or running 10k.

A lunchtime walk.
Taking the stairs.
Gardening.
Walking the dog.
Dancing around the kitchen when nobody's watching. 💃

It all counts.

As the weather gets colder and we naturally spend a little more time indoors, it's worth making a conscious effort to keep moving.

What's your favourite way to get moving?

We spend a lot of time talking about what we eat.

But what about how we eat?

Eating lunch while answering emails, grabbing dinner on the run, barely chewing before the next mouthful... modern life isn't always particularly peaceful!

This weekend, try slowing things down.

🍴 Sit down to eat
😌 Take your time
🥄 Chew properly
📱 Put the phone away for a few minutes
🌿 Give yourself permission to enjoy your meal

Looking after your digestive wellbeing doesn't always have to involve a huge lifestyle overhaul.
Sometimes it's simply about giving your body a little more time and attention.

Time for a little MYTH BUSTING. 🔎

"If I have colonic hydrotherapy, will my bowel become lazy?"

This is something I'm regularly asked.

During colonic hydrotherapy, warm filtered water is introduced gently into the colon. As part of a bespoke treatment, Wendy can adjust techniques — including water temperature — according to how the bowel is responding.

Colonic hydrotherapy isn't intended to replace your body's natural bowel function, nor should it be viewed as a substitute for healthy everyday habits.

Diet, fluid intake, movement and your normal routine all still matter.

Have you heard something about colonics and wondered whether it's actually true?
Pop your question below — we may make it our next Myth Busting post!

Sometimes the best way to understand what visiting Bushey Colonics is really like is to hear from someone who's already been. 💚

One thing that comes up time and again in your lovely feedback is how comfortable, informed and relaxed you felt during your appointment.

And that means an enormous amount to me.

Because while the treatment itself is important, so is everything surrounding it — being listened to, having things explained properly, being able to ask questions and never feeling embarrassed.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to leave a review. Every one is genuinely appreciated.
And if you've been to see me recently, I'd love to hear how you got on. ⭐

Is a colonic just a posh e***a?

Nope! 😊

It's actually a question I'm asked quite often.

An e***a and colonic hydrotherapy aren't the same treatment.

An e***a introduces fluid into the re**um and primarily works with the lower part of the bowel.

During colonic hydrotherapy, filtered warm water is introduced gently through specialist equipment, with separate tubing allowing water and waste to leave the body.

It's carried out by a trained practitioner in a private treatment environment and the treatment can be adapted to the individual.

Questions like this are exactly what I'm here for — there really are no silly questions when you're considering a treatment you've never had before.

Phone in one hand. 🚽
Thinking about the next job.
Already late for work.

Sound familiar?

Going to the loo is one thing we really shouldn't be trying to squeeze into 30 seconds of an already busy morning.

Try giving your body a little more time.

Don't ignore the urge to go, don't force things and try not to make rushing part of your normal toilet routine.

Sometimes the simplest habits are the ones we overlook.

Your bowel isn't particularly interested in your diary. 😉

Yes. We said it. POO. 💩

Considering every single one of us does it, we're remarkably good at avoiding talking about it.

But your bowel habits are worth paying attention to.

What's "normal" varies from person to person. What's often more useful is knowing what's normal for you.

A change in frequency, consistency, ease or your usual routine can be your body's way of telling you to pay attention.

And please don't be embarrassed about discussing it with me.
After 21 years in practice, there really isn't a bowel conversation I haven't had. 😂

If you have a persistent or unexplained change in bowel habits, always speak to your GP. But if you'd simply like to understand your digestive routine a little better, that's exactly the sort of conversation we can have at Bushey Colonics.

October has arrived. 🍂

The jumpers are coming out, the evenings are drawing in and suddenly salads and cold lunches don't seem quite as appealing as they did a few weeks ago!

As our routines and eating habits change with the seasons, our bowel habits can sometimes change too.

More comfort food, less time outdoors, different working routines and simply moving a little less can all play a part in how our digestive system feels.

So as we head into autumn, don't forget the basics:

🥕 Eat a varied, balanced diet
🚶 Keep moving
💧 Drink regularly
🕰️ Give yourself time to go to the loo
👂 And pay attention when your body tells you something has changed

Your bowel likes routine more than you might think!

And if things haven't felt quite like you recently, colonic hydrotherapy may be something you choose to explore alongside healthy diet and lifestyle habits.

When was the last time you gave yourself permission to focus on you?

Life gets busy.
Work, family, appointments, shopping, emails, chores… and suddenly looking after ourselves has slipped to the bottom of the list.

Taking care of yourself doesn’t have to mean a dramatic wellness overhaul.

It can be drinking enough water.
Going for a walk.
Making time for a proper meal.
Getting enough rest.
Paying attention to your digestive health.
Or finally booking that appointment you’ve been thinking about.

If colonic hydrotherapy has been on your mind, you can find more information about treatments and suitability on our website.
💚 Your wellbeing deserves space in your diary too.
