To minimise the time I spend on screens, the only social media I'm using is Instagram, it would be delightful to see you over at

Alternatively, you can get started by slowing down and soothing your nervous system with some free, instantly available resources through this link http://eepurl.com/dsXf9v There’s a range of options to choose from:

- Yoga Nidra to rest and restore
- Charts to map your energy and feelings
- Guided meditations and massage to re-connect with your body
- And much more! Here's the low-down

Gazillions of pounds are generated out of making us feel bad about ourselves. I believe that you are just fine as you are; even when you feel horrible you can heal and find your own way to live contentedly and creatively. You already know how to do it yourself, it's just that sometimes, our lives are too noisy for us to listen. If you need it, I can hold space for you to let go and find threads of joy and ease within yourself, so you can start to accept and heal. I am a menstrual and menopause mentor, workshop facilitator, writer and have been a therapist for more than a quarter of a century. I’ve featured in Time Out, The Evening Standard, the London Metro and written for well-known well-being publications, like Well Doing, Juno Magazine, Counsellors Cafe, Mind Body Green Rebelle Society and Massage Magazine. I’m in Second Spring, which means post-menopause, and have deep gratitude for the education that the menopause process has gifted me. My mission is to change the way we regard menopause and show how we can relax into our own, inner authority through their cyclical nature and menopause process. I refuse to take myself too seriously and try to never take anything on that is not pleasurable and delicious and my first book Second Spring will be published by HarperCollins 17th February 2021.

📢 A community screening: The People’s Emergency Briefing

What’s happening with climate and nature, and what does it mean for everyday life in the UK?

Join us for a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing; an eye-opening film, bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts alongside the latest evidence, and why it matters, for issues such as:

🌧️ Extreme weather
🍞 Food security
🏥 Health
💷 Cost of living

The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.

The session is hosted by Oxhey Village Environment Group in partnership with local residents.

After the film there will be a short open discussion about what it means for our community and what we can do locally.

Seats are free but space is limited, so please book in advance.

Bring a friend, neighbour or family member, but please be aware that content is suitable only for those aged 16+.

Today is world menopause day. And with an estimated 4.4 million people in the UK in peri and menopause, EVERY day is menopause day.

Perhaps think of it as an invitation to reflect on all the gentle ways you care for yourself, and what else might support you to become a kick-arse postmenopausal legend.

If you're not sure, I have just the thing. I don't believe in gatekeeping resources that can easily support you. That's why I have a humungous Resource Library ready and waiting for you. If you fancy a rummage, I'll pop the link below

I find postmenopause, aka being old, to be the most liberating, interesting and fun bit of my life so far.

More strength.
Creativity.
Courage.
Discernment.
More freedom.
New music.
New jumping for joy.

Keeping an eye on my mortality, my death, perhaps because my mum had Alzheimers at 64 and was dead by 67, keeps me full of aliveness .

I also keep an eye on my internalised ageism along with an ongoing awareness of how deep it bites, but that doesn’t mean I have to believe it. As I have a ton of privilege (white, cis, financial, able, in UK) I don’t have any excuses not to stand up to ageism.

Forgot: not yet 61, that happens next Thursday 🤪 A mere baby 60-yr-old for now.

That’s all. Now I shall go and kick over some bins 😆

How do you name your stage of life?
Midlife?
QUEEN??!!
I'm genuinely curious.
Let's reclaim old as the bloody triumph it is! Time to rebel!

Perimenopausal colleagues aren’t a problem to manage. They’re the beating heart of your organisation.

Super chuffed with the first of four webinars for yesterday. Self-care, and navigating peri conversations and adaptations at work next, then a cracking celebration of peri colleagues in collaboration with .co.uk

I notice a pull between making non-peri folk aware of the challenges and keeping away from fear. So in all my talks this month, I’m showing how gendered ageism feeds today’s ‘deficiency narrative’ and digging into the huge value peri colleagues bring, not least in their leadership skills.

Loving the opportunity to shift the story from seeing perimenopause folk as a problem to valuing their presence, and framing perimenopause power as a gift for everyone. Peppered with practical takeaways, of course!

It’s a both/and deal: challenging and liberating.

Does your workplace see peri as a problem or a strength? Tell me all about your experiences; I’d love to know how it is on the floor.
And if you’d like a talk for your team, DM me or follow the Linktree link to my site.

Rebelling against ageism doesn't have to be loud or exhausting.

It's just the process of choosing to be more of who you are instead of less.

How will you rebel this week?

It’s a good day for menopause and postmenopause health today as two excellent books are now available:

Embodied Menopause by Leo Taylor and Charlotte Watts
Part science, part sanctuary. While the world tells you to push through or stay forever young, this warm, inclusive book offers a radical third path, one grounded in a profound understanding of the body, that meets you exactly where you are and walks you into transformation.

The Post-Menopause Method by Karen Newby
A positive, practical non-fear driven , age-positive guide to ageing brilliantly. It’s stuffed with positivity and agency and great food ideas. Greatly needed as the longevity industry is waking up to terrify us into spending buckets of cash on dumb stuff.

💥✨✨✨💥Happy pub day Leo • Yoga • Thai Massage • Author and Karen Newby 💥✨✨✨💥

It’s a pretty nice day for me too as I had the great honour of being asked to contribute to both: the foreword in Embodied Menopause and an essay on Second Spring for The Post-Menopause method.

Pretty chuffed about that too!

Do go buy loads of copies and leave reviews on Amazon to tell the algorithm they’re brilliant!

What's the most ageist thing you've heard this week?

We learn it with our milk, right from the beginning, and we don't notice we're doing it. Road signs, birthday cards, 'you look good for your age'

We hate ourselves even more already!
