💔 Tributes have poured in following the death of acting legend Sir Patrick Stewart, aged 86, after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia.

The much-loved star passed away at his home in Los Angeles, with his death announced on Thursday.

The Alzheimer’s Society described him as an “extraordinarily talented and much-loved actor”, saying his death was a heartbreaking reminder of the devastating impact dementia has on individuals and their families.

Both conditions can affect memory, thinking and behaviour, gradually changing how a person experiences the world.

Here is a closer look at Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body dementia, including their symptoms and how they can affect those living with them.

Wow! What a wonderful session with the lovely men and women of the Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care Support hub.

💪🏻Today we focused on team work , coordination and movement.
Pool noodle football and ring pass are always favourites in the groups.

So much fun and laughter.

Rennie Grove peace hospice’s Support Hubs and Cafés are a friendly space to meet others with a life-limiting illness, take part in an activity to boost your wellbeing, and find out more about other services that may benefit you.
