We would love to hear from you ❤️
Edit - shout out to the small businesses in my dms who are in it with me. It’s good to hear from you 🙏
A little honesty about the future of the studio.
(Spoiler alert - no decisions have been made)
I've been sitting with this for a while, wondering how to say it without it sounding like a plea for support or making anyone feel guilty. That's genuinely not my intention. At all. And the feed back is that I always seem to have everything together- and that may be partially true. However- I am tired.
I know life is expensive. I know we're all busy, juggling work, family, responsibilities and our own struggles. I understand that having the best intentions doesn't always translate into showing up.
I like to be as transparent as possible so I need to be honest about where I'm at.
Running a space like this takes an enormous amount of time, energy, commitment and money, and I do have way more responsibility now outside of the studio- some of you know my children are home educated and I am full time carer of my dad who is housebound. Which means my capacity to carry the weight of this is limited.
I have some wonderful practitioners who do such amazing work- working with me and without them I probably would have had to say this a while ago.
But, I AM TIRED, of advertising, worrying about whether classes will fill, whether events will be viable, and whether I can cover the rent. I'm tired of putting money into keeping the space going when the numbers don't always add up especially as we come into winter and there’s no heating in our quirky old building.
I know people care about this space. I hear how much people value it, what it means to them, and how important places like this are. And I believe them.
I haven't made any big decisions, there’s lots of moving parts- largely it depends on what comes to the courtyard next and who takes residence below- but I can no longer make that decision based on what I hope might happen. I have to look at what's actually sustainable.
I may have to do things a little differently though.
I'm proud of what this space has offered and what we've created here. There has been so much good in it, and I don't want that to be lost in the uncertainty of what comes next.
If this space is important to you, I'd genuinely love to hear what you think- maybe not in the comments but dm me because I need to make a meaningful decision about the future, and I think it's time to be open about that.
Like I said the intention behind this is not a cry for help or to guilt people into coming to class.
I’m a yoga teacher, a yogi through and through and I’m just being honest about where I am. No point in pretending everything is fine- I always ask you not to do that 😅
I would love to hear from you.
With love
