❤️ Sometimes my clients teach me just as much as I learn from studying! ❤️

I've met some absolutely incredible people recently, both new clients and familiar faces, and I have to say, some of you really do blow me away. 🥰

The things people go through in life, the health challenges, diagnoses, pain, worries and everything else life decides to throw at them... yet they still turn up smiling, laughing and just getting on with it. ❤️

I hear so many different stories in my treatment room, and I genuinely feel privileged that people trust me enough to share a little bit of their lives with me.

And believe me, you teach me things too! Every day I'm learning, whether that's through my studies, researching something new or simply listening to you.

I've also had some really interesting conditions and injuries to work with recently, which certainly keeps me on my toes and puts all that studying to good use! 📚💪

I absolutely love what I do. It's not always about sports massage, deep tissue or fixing a niggle. Sometimes it's simply about giving someone an hour where they can switch off, relax and forget about everything else for a little while. 💆‍♀️✨

So, a little thank you to each and every one of you. For your trust, your stories, your laughs and for allowing me to do something I genuinely love.

You're all pretty amazing, you know! ❤️

And as for me... still here at Activate Massage, massaging, studying, learning and probably talking far too much! 😂🤣

💪 Shoulders: "I'm carrying all your stress… AGAIN! 😩"

🦴 Back: "I'm holding you together here, give me a break! 🙄"

🦶 Feet: "I've been dragging you around all week… I'm exhausted! 🥵"

🧠 Brain: "FOR GOODNESS SAKE… JUST BOOK THE MASSAGE!!" 😂🤣💆‍♀️

Sound familiar? 😂

Sometimes I think if our bodies could actually talk, they'd have a LOT to complain about! 🤣

We expect so much from them every single day, yet we're pretty good at ignoring all those little hints they're giving us! 🙈

😊 WEDNESDAY'S THOUGHTS FROM A MASSAGE THERAPIST 🙌

🧡 MASSAGE IS ABOUT SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST MUSCLES... ✨💆‍♀️

We spend so much of our lives rushing around, thinking about what needs doing next, worrying about things we can't change and sometimes completely forgetting to listen to our own bodies. 🏃‍♀️💭

We ignore the tension, the tiredness, the stress... until eventually our bodies make us take notice. 😮‍💨⚡

And this is something I love about massage. 💆‍♀️🧡

For that hour, there's nowhere else you need to be. Nothing you need to do. Nobody demanding your attention. ⏳🌿

Just you and your body. 🤍✨

Sometimes it's not about how much pressure I use or how many knots I find. 🙌

It's about helping you switch off, breathe, relax and actually feel comfortable in your own skin again. 🌬️😌💫

I genuinely believe that how we feel emotionally can have a huge impact on how we feel physically. 🧠💖🫶

And sometimes the most beneficial thing I can do as a massage therapist is simply give someone the time and space to completely let go. 🌸🕊️

Because massage isn't always about fixing something that's wrong. Sometimes it's about reminding your body what feeling good feels like. 🧡✨

✨️ 💯✨️ I love my job 🙌

Today reminded me that massage isn’t always about sports injuries, tight muscles or deep tissue. 🧡

I had a lovely lady in today who is living with Parkinson’s.

Her days can involve appointments, uncertainty and never quite knowing how she is going to feel from one hour to the next.

So today, we weren’t trying to “fix” anything.

Today was about giving her body permission to just stop.

To relax.
To breathe.
To let go of some of the worry, stress and tension.

For that hour, she didn’t have to think about the next appointment or what tomorrow might bring. She could just enjoy how she felt right there and then. 🧡

At the end of her massage, she told me she hadn’t felt that completely relaxed for such a long time.

And that really stayed with me.

Sometimes the most important thing I can give someone isn’t a deep treatment or a sports massage.

Sometimes it’s simply an hour where they can switch off, feel cared for and walk away feeling a little lighter than when they came in.

And sometimes, that is more than enough. 🧡

💧 LET’S TALK FASCIA… AND WHY MOVEMENT MATTERS

I talk about fascia quite a lot during treatments — because when you're feeling tight, stiff or restricted, it isn't always just the muscles we need to think about.

Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds and connects your muscles and other structures throughout the body. Think of it as a huge interconnected web.
When that tissue is healthy and moving well, the different layers of your tissues can glide and move more freely.
But long periods of sitting, repetitive movements, training, injury or simply not moving enough can all contribute to that familiar feeling of being tight and restricted.

💧 And what about hydration?
Fascia contains a lot of water, so keeping yourself properly hydrated is one part of looking after your connective tissues — but simply drinking gallons of water isn't a magic cure for tight fascia!

Movement is important too.
Walking, stretching, changing position regularly and generally keeping your body moving all help your tissues do what they're designed to do.

🙌 And this is where massage comes in.
Massage can help reduce that feeling of muscular tension and stiffness, encourage movement between the tissues and leave you feeling looser, more comfortable and able to move more freely.

It's one of the reasons I don't just massage where it hurts. I look at how you're moving, where you're restricted and what might be contributing to it.
Sometimes the area shouting the loudest isn't actually where the problem started. 😉

Move. Hydrate. Look after your body. And when it starts feeling like it needs a bit of help… you know where I am. 🧡
