Under the Employment Rights Act 2025, employers may now be liable when workers experience harassment from third parties unless they can show they took all reasonable steps to prevent it.
In health and social care, third parties can include:
โ Patients and residents
โ Relatives and visitors
โ Contractors and consultants
โ Other members of the public
Acas states that reasonable steps could include risk assessments, clear policies, staff training, incident recording and effective reporting.
Our CPD-accredited Third-Party Harassment Training helps health and social care teams understand the changes and prepare for their responsibilities.
