As the leaves turn and the days get shorter, it’s completely natural to feel your energy start to shift. 🍂
But instead of fighting the season, what if we leaned into it?
Nature doesn’t stay in summer mode all year round. Autumn is a season of slowing down, turning inward and preparing for the darker months ahead — and our daily rhythms are influenced by those seasonal changes too.
Less daylight can affect our circadian rhythm, sleep, mood and energy, so autumn can be a lovely time to make a few small changes that help support your nervous system and work with the season rather than against it.
🍂 1. Catch the morning light
One of the simplest things you can do is get outside soon after waking. Even on a grey autumn morning, outdoor light is generally much brighter than indoor lighting.
Take your coffee outside, walk the dog, stand in the garden or simply spend a little longer outdoors before starting your day.
Your body clock loves that morning light cue. 🌅
🍂 2. Get outside in the crisp morning air
There’s something about that first proper autumn chill that makes you feel awake.
Rather than rushing from a warm house straight into the car, give yourself a few minutes outside. Walk, breathe, notice the temperature and let your body wake up naturally.
It doesn’t need to be an ice bath or anything extreme! sometimes nature gives us enough. 🤎
🍂 3. Take your morning outside
Coffee in hand, coat on, and step outside. ☕️🍂
Take a little morning walk, wander around the garden or simply stand somewhere you can feel the sun on your face.
It doesn’t need to be another thing to tick off your morning routine. Think of it as a small ritual! A few quiet minutes of daylight, movement, fresh air and nature before the noise of the day begins.
Sometimes the simplest things really are the best medicine.
🍂 4. Eat with the sun & the season
As the daylight hours shorten, think about bringing more of your nourishment into the daylight hours too rather than saving your biggest meals for late at night.
And let autumn change what’s on your plate
