I didn’t want to say it this early, but Christmas is upon us 🎄

Look at these results! What you can see is that they needed a little fine-tuning at the two-week mark, which took the full treatment to 4 weeks from start to finish...

That’s exactly why I tell everyone the same thing every year: don’t get caught out by the diary.

Treatments like these need time to settle, and a review appointment at two weeks is a normal and important part of getting the result right. If you leave it until December, there simply isn’t room for that second step before your party or event.

So here’s how I’d plan it:

Dermal filler: ideally 4 weeks before your date, so swelling and any bruising can settle and we can review.

Forehead and frown line treatments: ideally 4 weeks too, for the same reason. That’s the full journey, not just the appointment.

Facials: around 2 weeks ahead, with a few sessions beforehand for proper glow.

The best Christmas skin is planned in October, not December ❗️

As a doctor, I’ll talk you through what’s right for you at your consultation and work backwards from your date, so you’re never rushing.

Take the next three months and commit to the version of your skin you want to walk into 2027 with ✨

PRP microneedling isn’t a one-and-done treatment. It’s usually done as a course of sessions spaced a few weeks apart, so skin gets time to respond in between.

October is the perfect time to start, because the first session is the hardest one to book. By the time the party season rolls around, you’re already on your way.

As a doctor, I always assess your skin first and tailor the plan to you. There’s no one-size-fits-all.

Why do microneedling depth AND needle count actually matter? 🍋

Not all microneedling treatments are the same, and the settings used can make a real difference to your results.

Needle depth determines how far into the skin the needles pe*****te. Superficial treatments can help with product absorption and skin texture, while deeper treatments can stimulate collagen remodelling and target concerns such as wrinkles and acne scarring.

Needle count (pins) matters too! Different needle cartridges affect how the treatment is delivered, including the number and distribution of microchannels created. More pins doesn’t necessarily mean a better treatment, and fewer pins doesn’t automatically mean deeper pe*******on.

🍋 Remember, a lemon isn't human skin! Actual needle pe*******on varies with skin thickness, treatment area and technique.

But here’s what’s important: there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.

The appropriate depth and needle configuration depend on the area being treated, skin thickness, skin condition and the concern we’re addressing. Even different areas of your face may require different settings.

Deeper treatments also carry greater risks and require appropriate clinical training, anatomical knowledge and careful patient selection. They aren’t suitable for every area or every patient.

At MPower Clinic, every microneedling treatment is individually assessed and tailored by a GMC-registered medical doctor.

Because effective microneedling isn’t about going as deep as possible or using the most needles. It’s about using the right technique for your skin. ✨

Ever wished you could blur out fine lines without adding heavy volume?
Meet HydroMax💧✨

HydroMax is one of my favourite injectable treatments because it bridges the gap between a classic skin booster and a traditional dermal filler. While it deeply floods the skin with moisture to improve elasticity and overall skin quality, it also brings just enough subtle support to plump up areas that are starting to lose their bounce.

It works wonders on those tricky, delicate concerns like fine lines, crepey skin texture, and accordion lines, you know, those fine creases that pop up on your cheeks when you smile!

The goal here isn't to change your features or build dramatic volume. It’s simply to revive your skin quality, smooth out static lines, and give you that soft, fresh-faced plumpness back.

Since we just performed this treatment, the full settled results aren't in quite yet! But I wanted to take you behind the scenes so you can see exactly what happens during the appointment.

As a doctor, I walk you through every step of your anatomical assessment and injection process so you feel completely comfortable and informed from start to finish.

Keep an eye out for our follow-up post to see how this beautiful treatment settles in! 👀

She's consistent and her skin shows it ✨

One peel can brighten the skin for a few days. A course of peels, spaced properly, actually changes the skin's texture and tone over time.

I filmed this across multiple peel sessions, weeks apart, on the same skin, so you can see the difference build rather than just hearing me say it works 😄

Consistency is genuinely the boring secret behind good skin. It's rarely one magic treatment.

If you've done one peel and felt underwhelmed, that's usually why, it was never designed to be a one-and-done ❌

Planning lip filler when you have a lip piercing? You don’t necessarily have to give up your jewellery! 💋✨

Having a labret, Monroe, or lip ring doesn’t mean you can’t achieve beautifully hydrated, natural lip volume. However, because post-treatment swelling is a completely normal part of the healing process, managing your jewellery correctly is essential to avoid unnecessary pressure or discomfort.

Here is what we advise during your doctor-led consultation:

1️⃣ Switch to a longer bar or larger hoop: Swelling usually peaks within the first 24 to 48 hours. Swapping to a longer post or wider ring before your appointment gives your lips plenty of room to expand comfortably without the jewellery digging in.

2️⃣ Keep it sterile: Clean, healthy tissue is crucial. Ensure your piercing is fully healed before booking filler, and keep the area thoroughly sanitised post treatment to support smooth healing.

3️⃣ Precise placement: Having an anatomical expert injecting means your treatment is carefully placed around the piercing channel to ensure an even, balanced result.

4️⃣ Be aware of uneven longevity: Filler around a lip piercing may not always last as long or break down as evenly. Repeated movement, pressure and friction from the jewellery can contribute to the result reducing more quickly around the piercing site, meaning you may notice some asymmetry sooner or need more regular top-ups than someone without a piercing.

With the right preparation and medical precision, you can keep your favourite aesthetic look while enjoying plump, hydrated lips. 🩺🤍

I’m a medical doctor… of course I’m already changing my skin routine to prepare for winter (and you should be doing some of these too!) 👩‍⚕️❄️

As autumn sets in, lower outdoor temperatures combined with indoor central heating can increase moisture loss from the skin. If you wait until your skin already feels tight, dry and irritated in December, you’re playing catch-up.

Autumn is one of the most strategic times of year to reset your skin after summer UV exposure and strengthen, hydrate and rejuvenate it ahead of winter:

Autumn Means ‘Peel Season’ 💚
With less intense UV exposure through autumn and winter, this is an ideal time to consider chemical peels. From lighter, low-downtime treatments such as BioRePeel and Obagi Blue Radiance, through to deeper resurfacing peels such as The Perfect Peel and TCA-based treatments for more significant pigmentation, uneven tone, texture and photoageing.

The right depth of peel depends on your skin, concerns and tolerance for downtime. Deeper doesn’t automatically mean better.

Regenerative Dermal Repair 🧬
For skin that needs more than surface-level hydration, injectable Polynucleotides work within the skin to support cellular repair, collagen production and overall skin quality. Particularly useful after months of summer UV exposure.

Deep Dermal Hydration 💧
Injectable skin boosters deliver hydration directly into the skin, helping improve hydration, elasticity and overall skin quality as we move into the colder months.

And At Home? 🧴
Prioritise barrier-supporting hydration, review or gradually introduce your active skincare, and keep wearing your SPF...UVA doesn’t disappear just because summer has!

The aim isn’t just to rescue dry skin once winter arrives. Preparing your skin during autumn can help maintain a healthier, more resilient, hydrated and radiant complexion throughout the season🤍

It really is that quick 🙌

How does freezing a skin lesion actually treat it? 🤔

Cryotherapy uses an intense, targeted burst of cold to destroy the cells in a lesion like a skin tag, mole or wart, without any surgery or downtime.

The area blisters slightly, scabs and naturally sheds over the following days, taking the lesion with it. It sounds dramatic, but it's actually one of the quickest, lowest risk in-clinic treatments we do.

As a doctor, I always assess the lesion first. Not everything that looks harmless should be frozen without a proper look, so this is never a DIY situation.

If you've got something you've been ignoring for months, this is usually a 60 second fix!

Transparency is key... 💅✨

While we're tracking the settling process of my half-face experiment, here’s a little reminder of what actually goes into maintaining full face skin longevity behind the scenes.

When patients ask how to keep skin looking fresh, radiant and well-rested, the answer is rarely “just drinking water.” It’s a carefully planned combination of regenerative skin treatments, targeted line management and clinical-grade skincare.

And before anyone asks… no, I don’t usually treat this many areas on myself 🤣 I simply don’t need to.

For this experiment however, I deliberately treated multiple areas across one half of my face to demonstrate how the different facial muscles move, how they interact with and balance one another, and how treating one area can influence the result elsewhere.

It’s not about treating every muscle, it’s about understanding how they work together and creating a treatment plan that’s appropriate for the individual face. 🩺✨
