After 4 years I’m understanding that although certain aspects of being self-employed get easier (you get more confident in your work, learn from mistakes, streamline your processes, evolve your offerings) …

At times you think you have the balance of it all just right and then something completely knocks it.

I guess it’s true that every season of business (as in life) is different and even when things feel like s**t, there’s a lesson in there somewhere!

I’ve been a freelance social media manager for four years now, helping founders, brands and creators grow their online presence and connect with the right people.

Conscious Socials was born from a desire to support people doing good things. I work with businesses, brands and creators who are putting people, the planet and purpose at the centre of what they do.

When you’re hosting an event, capturing content is usually the last thing on your mind, right?

Having someone there to capture:

🎤 you doing your thing
🤝 the small things you may not have noticed that made it such a success

allows you to keep telling the story long before it ends, and to promote the next one! It also means you can be fully in the moment.

I have a confession. I write a to do list, even on the weekend.

I write out my plans and the tasks I need to get done in my notes app. Not because my social plans feel like a task, but the things like cleaning, washing and life admin need to get done.

(But surely I can remember them without writing them down?😅)

Tbh I think my brain still needs the dopamine of ticking things off, and I can’t shake the feeling of needing to be productive 24/7.

I’ve noticed that when Saturday morning comes I start thinking about what I can tick off, and starting the day with rest feels uncomfortable. I know. IT SHOULDN’T.

So I’m noticing it. Leaning into it. And starting the weekend lying on the sofa reading my book☕️📚🌼🌳💤
