This morning I had the pleasure of speaking to a lovely group of people about the benefits and importance of clinical supervision and how I could support them as a team. Although this is something I am passionate about so happy to chat about it, I was massively out of my comfort zone as I don't like presenting and I don't like working online! They were all so lovely though and I think it went well! Now for an evening of admin then can't wait to have a few days off with my family đź’•

🌟 Today is a major professional milestone for me as it marks 10 years since I officially qualified as a counsellor!

Reflecting on a decade in the therapy room, I am incredibly grateful for the hundreds of clients who have trusted me with their stories, vulnerabilities, and triumphs. I am so privileged that I do the work I do and for those that choose me to support them through their toughest moments.

If these 10 years have taught me anything, it is the profound power of human resilience and the vital importance of continuous learning and intentional self-care in this profession.

To celebrate I took the day off; one of the best bits of running my own business, and I have spent the day visiting someone very special to me and I even got some time at the very stormy beach, which of course I just loved and really energised me! The journey home is a time for me to reflect on what this day means for me.

Thank you to my supervisors, peers, and professional community (especially The Creative Counsellors🥰) who have supported my practice along the way. Here is to the next decade of supporting mental health and well-being!

Much love,
Amy đź’•

The BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) is the professional body that I work under and from the beginning of November they are making some changes to their ethical framework. As a result of this I am busy working through the updated regulations and I will be needing to make changes to some of the ways in which I work. It won't affect how our sessions are but I will need to do some new paperwork so all
clients that are currently on my books will be receiving an email from me within the next few weeks so please keep an eye out for this. This seems like a massive job for me as think we are all aware that admin is not my strong point but I want to ensure that my practice is running as ethically as possible inline with the new regulations so please bear with me đź’•

Despite my job, I have to admit that sometimes I'm not very good at taking my own advice but this weekend I have listened to my body. I have had a horrid bug on my chest all week that I am struggling to shake off. This weekend I wanted time to catch up with my friends and go for walks in the lovely sunshine but I have listened to my body and I have rested as much as possible, which hasn't been as much as I would have liked but I will take it! Today I have read (has anyone read The Artist?) and the pup has kept me company and I have also made soup and got some meals for the week sorted to try get some goodness in me! Hope you have managed to have a rest this weekend too. Hoping all clients sessions will go ahead as arranged this week but any different and i will be in touch! Take care đź’•
