🏛️ Today is World Architecture Day.

At Klick, we have the opportunity to work alongside architects and design teams on laboratory projects across the research, life sciences, industrial and education sectors.

Successful laboratory design brings together architecture, specialist furniture, services and the technical requirements of the people who will use the space.

Today is a great opportunity to recognise the architects and design professionals we work with, and the collaboration involved in turning complex laboratory requirements into practical, effective working environments.

As food, drink and ingredient businesses grow, their R&D and testing facilities often need to evolve with them. 🧪

We’ve worked with businesses across the sector to create specialist laboratory environments designed around their processes, equipment and day-to-day workflows.

Our project for Bevie, which produces ingredients for the commercial drinks industry and homebrew market, is a great example.

Klick was appointed to expand and refurbish Bevie’s R&D laboratory, creating a modern facility with improved workflow and efficiency. The project presented some interesting challenges:
• The laboratory was located on the first floor alongside Bevie’s main office
• All equipment and materials had to be delivered through the working office
• Deliveries and noisy works needed to be carefully programmed around office hours
• Additional health and safety measures were required to manage movement through the occupied space
• Bevie needed to maintain essential laboratory activities throughout the project

Careful planning, close communication and coordination helped minimise disruption to Bevie’s team, with the project completed ahead of schedule.

🎥 In this short clip, Dave Ditcham from Bevie talks about some of the challenges involved and shares his feedback on the project.

🧪 The British Science Festival 2026 is underway in !
This year’s programme explores science and innovation across a fascinating range of disciplines.

One event that caught our attention is Engineering Food Solutions, taking place on Saturday 19 September at of Southampton, in the Sir James Matthews Building. The talk explores how engineers, clinicians and community leaders are working together to tackle food poverty and turn waste into fresh food.

We’ve taken a closer look at the Festival in our blog and its connection with the specialist scientific environments we design at Klick.

🎥 Flexibility isn’t just a design choice — it’s what makes a lab future-ready.

Flexibility was a key priority in the design of Cyprotex’s new 32,000 sq ft research facility at Alderley Park.

In this latest video, Brian Miller, Engineering & Facilities Manager at Cyprotex explains how Klick’s furniture and benching systems help the building respond to changing customer needs, evolving regulatory requirements and future instrumentation demands.

With mobile benching and heavy-duty solutions designed to support equipment up to 250kg, the laboratories have been built to adapt — giving Cyprotex the freedom to reconfigure spaces as their science and business needs evolve.

Watch the clip to hear why flexible, future-ready lab design matters.

Back to school is just around the corner… 🎒🔬

For many students, the next couple of weeks will mean the treat of a new pencil case, finishing off those holiday projects and getting ready for the start of a new school year.

For our installation teams, it means the final push!

They’re working flat out across the country to complete science laboratory and food technology room refurbishments ready for students and teachers to return.

On some projects, our is already installed and we’ve left main contractors to complete final connections. Where Klick are co-ordinating a full turnkey refurbishment our teams are adding the final touches before handover.

It’s always rewarding to see the results of many weeks of planning, design and coordination come together – transforming existing teaching spaces into modern, practical environments ready to inspire the next generation of students.

Good luck to all the schools preparing for the start of another busy academic year!
