You haven't suddenly become "bad" at looking after yourself.

This is one of the most common concerns I hear from women in their 40s and 50s.

They're doing many of the same things they've always done, yet their digestion feels different.

More bloating.
More unpredictability.
More sensitivity.
More frustration.

It's easy to assume you're doing something wrong.
But often what's changed isn't your effort.

It's the environment inside your body.

Hormonal shifts, changes in sleep, increased stress load and alterations in gut sensitivity can all influence how your digestive system behaves.

This is why simply removing more foods doesn't always solve the problem.

👉 There isn't one simple solution.

The first step is understanding the bigger picture and recognising the patterns that may be affecting your symptoms.

If you'd like help doing that, comment SUPPORT and i will send you my free Banish the Bloat Protocol

đź’¬ Have you noticed your digestion feels different now compared with 10 years ago?

Sound familiar?

When your bowels are unpredictable, it's easy to start questioning everything you've eaten.

Was it the coffee? The salad you had for lunch? Something you ate yesterday?

👉 And before you know it, you're cutting out more foods, trying another supplement and getting increasingly frustrated.

But here's something I want you to understand.
You can open your bowels regularly and still experience symptoms of constipation.

It's not just about how often you go.

How easily you go to the toilet and whether you feel you've emptied properly matter too.

And if you're alternating between diarrhoea and days of not going, there can be several reasons for this.

📣 After 19 years working as a dietitian, one thing I've learnt is that we need to look at the whole picture, not just the last thing you ate.

Because understanding your bowel pattern is often a much more useful starting point than cutting out another food.

Fed up with trying to work out what's going on with your gut?

When your gut starts dictating whether you can exercise, go out or make plans, it can have a much bigger impact than we sometimes realise.

For this client, the answer wasn’t more restriction.

It was recognising a pattern in her routine and making a few targeted, practical changes.

Her symptoms became manageable, and she could get back to focusing on the things that mattered to her.

Gut symptoms are individual. Sometimes you need to look at the bigger picture to understand what’s actually going on.

Are your symptoms influencing your exercise?

If this sounds familiar, comment SUPPORT and i will send you my free guide which has practical steps you can start today.

Although IBS is often talked about as a standalone condition, it's essentially an umbrella term of different symptoms.

There are several presentations of IBS. These subtypes include IBS-C, IBS-D and IBS-M, Each one is referred to after a certain set of gastrointestinal problems.

IBS-C: If you suffer from IBS-C, you may have fewer bowel movements than usual and may strain to go. Stomach cramps and belching
can all be symptoms of IBS-C, along with gas and bloating.

IBS-D: With IBS-D, more than a quarter of stools on your abnormal bowel movement days are loose, while less than a quarter are hard and lumpy. If you have ISB-D, you may feel like you need to go to the toilet more frequently.

IBS-M can result in a variety of symptoms. You may find that your symptoms alternate between causing constipation and diarrhoea.

Different forms of IBS can cause a wide range of symptoms; identifying the type you have is an important step to getting effective treatment.

A registered dietician can help you make sense of your symptoms and focus in on the best course of treatment.
