What changes when the learning stops being something you're told and becomes something you live through?

The Practitioner Training runs over 170+ hours, combining rigorous academic grounding with direct, embodied practice. It's built so each person arrives at their own understanding rather than being handed someone else's conclusions.

Scott, an Associate Professor who's completed three programmes with me, put it simply: it's not talking, it's doing. Work that doesn't sit on a shelf once the training ends. It stays with you and changes how you see.

This is for healers, leaders, researchers and anyone who senses they're at a genuine turning point in how they think and work.

If that's you, send me a DM and let's talk it through.

I often try to check whether I’m looking at a system from the outside or are coming at it as if from within. I find this distinction changes almost everything that I do.

Ecocentric stewardship takes this distinction seriously. It assumes we are never separate from what we aim to serve. There are two core features of ecocentric leadership that highlight the importance of this distinction. Take a look at the carousel below.

I wonder what circumstances you find yourself in where you work as if standing on outside versus those you operate as if you are the system you are stewarding? Feel free to comment.

What becomes possible when you learn to work with the unseen as a trained practitioner?

The Shamanic Practitioner Training 2026/27 begins on 7 November.
Over 15 months you will build a serious, comprehensive foundation in shamanic healing and stewardship practice.

Across six gatherings (three online weekends and three 7-day residentials at Noddfa Retreat Centre in North Wales) you will learn soul retrieval, extraction medicine, divination, ancestral healing and more.

All of this happens in the foothills of Snowdonia with the sea just a ten-minute walk away.
· For healers, leaders and change-makers
· Prior introduction to shamanism required
· Course price (fully inclusive of accommodation and meals), payable in four instalments

What if leading well means never standing outside what you lead?

Most leadership starts from the assumption that a leader stands apart from the system they lead, directing it from the outside. Ecocentric and shamanic traditions start somewhere else entirely: everything is interconnected and a leader isn't separate from what they serve.

Think of a wave. It has a shape you can point to and name. And yet it is still, entirely, the ocean.

I discuss this further in my latest blog which is available here:

Read the full piece on what this actually means for how you lead, and the two core shifts it asks of you.

What to ask yourself when old approaches don’t work
Are your old approaches no longer working?
I often find myself in this situation, reflecting on whether my approach to something, or the system I am working in is why my efforts don’t seem to work.

It seems that many of us - whether in therapy rooms, environmental organisations, executive teams, universities and most professionals working in demanding fields – are entangled in systems that seem to be ever more dysfunctional.

Faced with these circumstances, I find it useful to reflect on what questions need asking. Take a look at the carousel to hear more.

Feel free to add a comment about your own experience.

A creation myth: “That is the last place they will think to look”
This is a beautiful creation myth that very much speaks to our times.
It is a retelling of a traditional Sioux teaching, often told, inspired by a version given to Gary
Zukav, presented in Soul Stories.

Like all good stories, it is not for me to interpret it for you. But I wonder what questions it
opens up when we think about it?

Have we properly searched within for what has been hidden?
How can we learn the wider ways of knowing of Grandmother Mole that might help us see it?
And if we did, what would we find?

If we find that we create our own reality, what does this mean? How could our lives and the
lives of others be different?

Shamanic practice doesn’t end with your first course.
It deepens, expands and asks more of you over time.

The Shamanic Leadership & Peer Circle is a monthly space for practitioners who have completed an introductory course and want to keep growing. Each session brings new teaching alongside structured peer time, so real challenges in your practice get worked through together rather than alone.

Cohorts are capped at 12 people committing to a six-month block, so the group stays small enough for genuine trust and shared accountability to build.

Round Two begins 19 October and runs through 15 March 2027.

If you’ve completed an introductory course (or equivalent training) and you’re ready for that next layer of depth and community, join today.

How much of your thinking happens because you've been taught to think, rather than because you've stopped to actually listen?

Shamanic traditions have long understood that the most useful knowledge doesn't always come from analysis. It comes from a different kind of attention, one that's quieter and harder to force.

On the Introduction to Shamanic course, one of the first things people try is a simple shamanic listening practice. Not to a person or a plan but to a wider sense of what's actually happening in a moment or a room. Small, quiet, and often the thing people mention weeks later as the bit that stayed with them.

This is for people who sense there's a register they're not yet working in. Open to anyone whose next stage of growth feels like it needs a different kind of knowing rather than a better strategy.

When the old ways stop working, it’s not always a sign you’re failing.

Sometimes it’s a sign you’re in a chaos cycle.
A natural phase of breakdown and renewal that every living system moves through.

In shamanic understanding, disruption isn’t something to “fix” as fast as possible. It can be the clearing fire in the forest. The fever that reorganises the body back towards balance. The necessary ending that makes space for what’s more alive to emerge.

If life or work feels unstable right now, try a different question:

What is trying to end here? and what becomes possible when I stop propping it up?

Read the full piece: https://www.shamanichealing.org.uk/post/chaos-cycle

I wrote this for leaders, therapists, change-makers (and anyone quietly exhausted by “trying harder”). What feels like it’s asking to be released in your world right now?

Most of us learned to solve problems by thinking harder. Analyse more, plan better, push through.

But some answers do not come from more analysis. They come from a different way of knowing altogether, one that sits underneath the strategy and the to do list.

In the Introduction to Shamanic Leadership course, one of the first things you do is a short grounding practice, learning to notice what a room or a decision actually feels like before reasoning about it.

This is for anyone who senses their usual tools are not quite reaching the problem in front of them.
