The gut microbiome decides how bile acids are deconjugated, recycled and converted into secondary bile acids, with knock-on effects for fat digestion, metabolic signalling, blood sugar regulation and colonisation resistance.

When this balance is disrupted, clients may present with loose stools and urgency, constipation, bloating, abdominal pain, greasy or pale stools, and poor tolerance of fatty meals.

Another valuable Functional Pathway included in GI Axis tests from October 1st.
