As seasonal influenza continues to circulate in Hong Kong, taking preventive action early is one of the best ways to protect yourself, your family, and the community.

Today, Rinzin conducted an enjoyable health education session on seasonal influenza and its prevention for ethnic minority residents in Tin Shui Wai and neighbouring areas.

Did you know? It takes about two weeks after vaccination for your body to develop full antibody protection. Getting vaccinated early helps ensure you are protected before the winter flu peak arrives.

Daily Flu Prevention Tips

1. Wear a surgical mask in crowded places or when feeling unwell.
2. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use a hand sanitiser containing 70-80% alcohol.
3. Keep indoor environments well ventilated and regularly disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
4. Maintain a balanced diet, get enough sleep, and stay physically active to strengthen your immune system.

Who Is Eligible for Free or Subsidised Influenza Vaccination?

Under the Vaccination Subsidy Scheme (VSS) and Government Vaccination Programme (GVP), priority groups include:

1. Adults aged 50 years or above
2. Children aged 6 months to under 18 years
3. Pregnant women
4. Individuals with chronic medical conditions or disabilities

Where Can You Get Vaccinated?

1. Enrolled Private Clinics (check doctor co-payment fees via the CHP VSS Directory)
2. District Health Centres (DHCs) and DHC Express
3. Hospital Authority General Outpatient Clinics (for eligible patients)

Tag a friend or family member to remind them to get their flu shot early this season!

Today, Rinzin had the honor of visiting the OCD & Anxiety Hong Kong (OCDAHK) ’s Green Ribbon Campaign in Central and connecting with Minal Mahtani ji and her inspiring team!
We truly appreciate their tremendous work in mental health, especially in OCD and anxiety. We also explored exciting ideas for future collaboration between OCDAHK and the South Asian Health Support Programme (UCN) to break down stigma and ensure mental health care is friendly, culturally responsive, and affordable for all.
Check out the photos and event leaflet below to see how OCDAHK is making a difference with their Rainbow of Hope initiative!

On 22 September and today, 29 September 2026, we concluded a two-part wellness workshop tailored for ethnic minority female residents of Kwai Tsing District.

The sessions integrated chair yoga, somatic breathing exercises, and applied mindfulness techniques—equipping participants with low-barrier, practical self-regulation strategies to:

1. Mitigate physical strain and everyday stressors

2. Alleviate sleep disruption and promote healthier sleep hygiene

3. Strengthen emotional resilience and long-term mental well-being

On the behalf of the South Asian Health Support Programme (SAHP), Rinzin extends sincere gratitude to the YAMA Foundation, instructor Katia Bacon, and the LINK Centre for their partnership, dedication, and expertise in delivering such an impactful initiative for the community.

In our second newsletter of 2026-2026, we break down the major occupational health risks facing Hong Kong’s delivery workers:

The Big Four Risks on the Road:

1. Traffic & Physical Trauma

Rushing against app timers leads to severe collisions, sudden falls on slick roads, and risks from tram tracks—often resulting in fractures, head trauma, and soft tissue damage.

2. Musculoskeletal Strain

Hours spent hunched over handlebars with heavy 8–15kg delivery bags cause chronic lower back pain, knee wear, and severe neck/shoulder stiffness.

3. Heat & Environmental Hazards

Hong Kong's humid summers and sudden downpours bring risks of heat exhaustion, dehydration, and reduced reaction times, worsened by roadside vehicle exhaust.

4. Fatigue & Algorithmic Stress

Unpredictable earnings, gamified dispatch algorithms, irregular meals, and long shifts lead to chronic sleep deprivation and burnout.

Essential Safety Tips for the Road:

Gear Up: Always wear a well-fitted, certified helmet and high-visibility clothing—especially at night or in heavy rain.

Hydrate & Cool Down: Carry an insulated water bottle and take quick rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned spots during peak heat.

Protect Your Joints: Do short micro-stretches while waiting for pick-ups to relieve spinal and neck tension.

Prioritize Recovery: Set firm off-shift hours to protect your sleep, and take a brief 3-minute mental pause after peak lunch or dinner rushes.

We were delighted to deliver an Emotional Health Talk for primary students at Chiu Sheung School Hong Kong, Pok Fu Lam.

Rinzin enjoyed a lively and interactive session with the young primary students, who demonstrated great curiosity and enthusiastically asked many questions. It was a meaningful and rewarding opportunity to discuss the importance of emotional health and emotional management, empowering children with practical skills to better understand, express, and manage their emotions.

We are grateful to the school for providing this valuable opportunity.

Today, the South Asian Health Promotion Programme (UCN), in collaboration with Unity in Diversity (Parosi Community), hosted an interactive and informative workshop on Anxiety Disorder for ethnic minority residents in To Kwa Wan.
During the session, our speaker Rinzin Chodor delivered key messages in Urdu, sharing essential insights on:
• Key concepts of anxiety disorder
• Early signs and symptoms to look out for
• Practical self help strategies and community support options
Participants also completed the DASS 21 mental health screening, used as a first step screener to help identify levels of stress, anxiety, and depression among attendees.
For individuals requiring additional care, our team provided guidance and clear referral pathways to trusted support services, including The Zubin Foundation’s Ethnic Minority Well being Centre and the ICCMW, ensuring access to professional assessment and counselling when needed.
