🌿 Week 2: Complex Trauma (C-PTSD) & Somatic Healing
When trauma is relational, healing must be embodied.
Complex Trauma (C-PTSD) doesn’t stem from a single high-stress event. It comes from prolonged, repeated stress, like growing up in an emotionally unsafe environment or experiencing ongoing relational wounds.
Because complex trauma often develops during our formative years, it fundamentally reshapes how our nervous system perceives safety, connection, and self-worth.
Why Somatic Therapy is vital for C-PTSD:
1. Bypasses overthinking: C-PTSD often causes hypervigilance or cognitive loops. Somatic work grounds you in the present moment.
2. Rebuilds safety within: It teaches your body that the danger has passed, helping you shift out of constant survival mode.
3. Restores healthy boundaries: You learn to recognize and honor your body’s subtle « yes » and « no. »
Healing C-PTSD takes time, but your body inherently knows how to restore balance when given the right tools and support. ❤️
