Some of the most powerful moments happen when people come together for something bigger than themselves. ❤️

During our October trip to Honduras, we saw families come together in a special way. Some served as medical professionals, using their skills to provide much-needed care. Others stepped up as general volunteers, offering their time, energy, and compassion wherever they were needed. Different roles, different skills, but one shared purpose: helping others access the care they deserve. 🇭🇳

When families serve side by side, the impact reaches beyond the operating room. It creates lasting memories, strengthens connections, and reminds us what’s possible when people unite around a common mission. ✨

Frequent trips to the bathroom, sudden urges, or leaking urine can be more than an inconvenience. For people with an overactive bladder, these symptoms can interfere with work, sleep, travel, and everyday life. 😥 Pelvic floor physical therapy can help people better manage bladder symptoms.

Through GSE’s Pelvic Floor Therapy Program, local healthcare providers are gaining the training they need to recognize and support pelvic health conditions in their own communities. 🌍 Better training means better access and more people getting the care they need closer to home. 🩷

Pre-op nurses, your skills can make a difference far beyond your hospital walls. Global Surgical Expedition is looking for pre-op nurses to join our January surgical mission to Honduras, in partnership with One World Surgery. 🇭🇳

This multidisciplinary team will provide urology, urogynecology, and general surgery services.

Pre-op nurses will help prepare patients for surgery through assessments, reviewing medical information, answering questions, and providing reassurance before they enter the operating room. 📝

Global Surgical Expedition and One World Surgery teams took a break from a busy week of mission work to enjoy a beautiful scenic hike together!

While our days in Honduras are filled with long hours, meaningful work, and life-changing surgical care, moments like these give our team a chance to recharge, connect, and enjoy the beauty of the country we're so fortunate to visit.

From the operating room to the trails, this mission is about teamwork, building relationships, and coming together around a shared purpose. We're grateful for our partnership with OWS and for all the incredible people who make this work possible. 💙

❤️ Learning, serving, and making memories together in Honduras! 🇭🇳

Meet Alanna Cruz-Bendezu, one of our Global Surgical Scholars Program (GSSP) surgical residents, and her mom, Eliana, who joined our team as a general volunteer!

For Alanna, this mission is about more than gaining global surgery experience. The GSSP program lets aspiring medical professionals learn alongside experienced clinicians, observe surgical care in an international setting, and see firsthand the teamwork, preparation, and dedication it takes to bring essential care to underserved communities. 🌍

These experiences help students connect classroom learning to the realities of patient care, broaden their understanding of global health, and learn from the people and communities they serve. It's an opportunity to grow not only as a future medical professional, but also as a compassionate, thoughtful advocate for equitable access to care.

And getting to share this experience with her mom makes it even more special! While Alanna is learning and growing through the GSSP program, Eliana is supporting the mission as a general volunteer, helping with the important behind-the-scenes work that keeps everything moving.

We're so glad to have both of them on our team in Honduras! 💙
