A butterfly sits right in the middle, with lotus-style petals and ornamental detail stacked above and below it.

The whole design is symmetrical and runs the length of the forearm, so it reads as one long piece instead of separate elements. Fine linework outlines it, with soft shading building depth in the petals and wings.

Ornamental work like this only looks good when the spacing is clean and the symmetry holds, and it does here.

Two hummingbirds in flight, a lotus growing through the middle, soft shading in the petals and wings.

The stem curves with the thigh instead of sitting flat, so the whole piece moves when you do. Fine linework keeps it light, with enough detail in the feathers and petals to hold up up close.

Thigh is a great canvas for this style. Room to flow, easy to show or cover.

Four days, one full leg sleeve, and a lot of separate references that needed to become one actual composition.

The client brought multiple ideas, Daruma, Maneki-neko, a red panda, a Kitsune mask, all leaning Japanese-inspired with a touch of Chinese influence. Lucky's job wasn't copying each reference individually, it was reworking them into something that actually reads as one piece, built in his own style and shaped around the leg itself.

That's really what custom work means, references guide the direction, they don't dictate the final result.
