Make your Growmitment šŸ‘Š

This year I’ve made it a primary goal to organise more events for men centred around in person connection and improving both physical and mental wellbeing through

It is something I am so passionate about, and aligns well with what Movember are doing this year.

Making a Growmitment is not just about growing a mustache.

A Growmitment is your commitment to take on Movember together - grow a Moustache, move 60km across the month, host an event, challenge a friend, or do it your own way.

Whatever you choose, you’ll be raising funds, starting conversations and changing men’s health for the better.

Sign up today at movember.com

Search ā€˜you coming out’ if you would like to join our team!

Send this to your office bestie who’s always complaining of back pain šŸ¤•

If you’re sitting at your desk all day, these are a few great options to add in for a movement break to help reduce muscle pain & tension.

Perform each for 1 minute, 4 minutes total a couple of times per day 🧘

Glute Max maxxing 🤄

Some of the best all rounders and some of my favourites for glute growth:

1. Hip thrust variation
2. Bulgarian split squat (see previous video on technique)
3. RDL variation
4. Cable kickback
5. FFE reverse lunge

Same principles of hypertrophy apply for all of these - progressive overload is key!

Honourable mentions:
- 45° Glute ham raise
- Leg press
- Back squats (great, but a lot of people aren’t fully comfortable with them and struggle with progressing loading)

Any questions, let us know šŸ‘‡

These 5 (or 6) foods are making you fat 🤄

Avocado
Olive oil
Sourdough bread
Chia seeds
Peanut butter
+ Matcha

🧐🧐

A lot of these foods are high in dietary fats, yes.

But for most people they are unlikely to be the reason you are gaining weight or struggling to lose weight.

What could be possible, if you have a very ā€˜healthy’ overall diet and are aiming to lose weight, but you eat large amounts of dietary fats (e.g. salads with nuts, olive oil, avocado etc.) you may not be in a calorie deficit, and portion control/modification may be useful.

I can’t say I’ve ever binged multiple avocados in one sitting

Also we can just forget about matcha because it is vile thanks x

This needs attention.

This is an insult to all victims.

It is an insult to all women.

It is an insult to all decent practitioners in the fitness and rehabilitation industry.

To think that someone can inflict suffering on a minimum of 35 women, yet somehow be capable of returning to the same line of work and potentially work with women who are unbeknownst to his history.

I’ve had THOUSANDS of female patients over the years and never ONCE has there been a necessity for them to remove a bra, or never once has it crossed my mind to ask.

Women should feel at their safest when they enter a treatment room, not like they need to keep guard.

People in the industry, men in particular, need to be louder.

Change is desperately needed.

I spoke on this a couple of years ago at the time, and I felt compelled to do so again.

Things haven’t changed. There are still no regulations in place.

ā€˜What happened was wrong, but not wrong enough to stop it from happening again’.

Glutes or Quads?🤄

Bulgarian split squats are one of the 🐐 exercises when it comes to overall leg development, but technique is šŸ”‘ and can often be mis cued!

More glutes:
- Longer stride forward
- Trunk hinge
- Pressure in heel
- Front foot elevation

More quads:
- Shorter stride length
- Encourage knee over toe (positive shin angle)
- Pressure in forefoot (heel stays on ground)
- Heel elevated on plate

For both, we want to avoid leaning into the back leg too much, and we should encourage the majority of body weight to be felt in the front leg!

Make sure to save this video to help you target the correct muscle group and fix your form, and if you have any questions pop me a message!
