With Storm Austen bringing heavy rain, strong winds and challenging weather conditions across parts of Ireland, we’re asking everyone in our communities to take extra care over the coming days. 🌧️❤️

Met Éireann has issued weather warnings for Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd October, with a Status Orange warning for Dublin, Wexford and Wicklow, alongside wider Status Yellow warnings.

At Danu Home Care, we understand just how important it is for people to feel safe, supported and cared for in their own homes, particularly during periods of severe weather.

We would encourage everyone to take a few simple precautions:

❤️ Check in on older neighbours, family members and anyone living alone who may need a helping hand.

🚗 Allow additional time for journeys and avoid travelling through flooded areas.

🏡 Secure outdoor items and take extra care around your home.

We recently had a wonderful night celebrating care at the recent HCCI Awards! ✨ Some of our Danu Home Care team were delighted to join colleagues from across the home care sector to recognise the dedication, compassion and hard work that go into supporting people in their own homes every day. ❤️

We’re proud to work alongside so many people who care deeply about what they do. Having the opportunity to come together and celebrate that commitment made for a very special evening.

Today, on World Mental Health Day, Danu Home Care joins the global conversation about the importance of protecting mental health and wellbeing at every stage of life. ❤️🌍

This year’s theme, “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change”, reminds us that meaningful support begins by listening to people and respecting their individual experiences. 🗣️👂

For those receiving care at home, feeling heard, valued and involved in decisions can make a genuine difference. Our staff take time to listen, build trusting relationships and ensure each person’s voice remains central to the support they receive. 🤝🏡

🎀 Throughout October, Danu Home Care joins communities across Ireland in recognising Breast Cancer Awareness Month.🎀

Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women in Ireland, excluding skin cancer. This month encourages us to talk openly about breast health, understand the importance of early detection and support the research helping to improve treatments and outcomes.

Knowing what is normal for your body matters. If you notice a new lump or any unusual change in your breast or underarm, contact your GP, even if you have recently received a normal mammogram result.

A breast cancer diagnosis affects more than one person. It can bring uncertainty and change for families, friends and everyone providing care and support. This month, we stand with people receiving treatment, those living beyond a diagnosis and those remembering someone they have lost.

We also recognise the healthcare professionals, carers and researchers supporting people throughout every stage of their journey. 💗
