*Pay talks at a critical juncture*

“The talks have been lengthy, and at times heated."

"A draft agreement remains possible, but the Government has yet to put forward a credible offer, and it remains to be seen whether it will do so."

”I will continue to push for the best deal for members, but I cannot be certain that we will reach that point this week, or indeed over the weekend.”

- Kevin Callinan, General Secretary, Fórsa

On Monday (2nd November) the ICTU Public Services Committee (the joint unions’ group) will meet to discuss the talks.

If no draft agreement is ready, they will consider a proposal for a nationwide strike on Wednesday, 11th November.

Your National Executive Committee has backed this approach if there is no agreement.

The proposal will include a demo in Dublin and across regions on strike day.

Members, we will update you once this week’s talks conclude. Work-to-rule continues.

Stay united, stay strong.

We want to say thank you to everyone who showed up to support the workers on strike last week.

From the small businesses who brought coffees and sandwiches, to everyone who beeped as they drove past. It was incredible and hugely appreciated.

"If they've [the government] heard what members said on the picket line, so many of them said that they've nothing more to give. That they're really struggling with the cost of living, under huge pressure in work."
